I think I speak for all of us when I say that we thought g4 would never return, but it is doing so in the movie and that at least should secretly make us all happy. You cannot hide behind cynicism forever anons. It might not be a masterpiece but it is still a movie made to capture the lightning in a bottle we once experienced when young, why not give it a chance and be optimistic? Why continue to act like the contrarians of the internet when there is a real chance this movie is everything we ever wanted? when the movie does well MLP will go back to being in the spotlight of worldwide pop culture, this board will be in the spotlight, this is our chance at reviving the happiest moments of our lives

But generally, unless it ultimately results in an EQG type thing where the worlds are separated and youre transformed at the threshold i just don't like it much. I dont like AiE outside of jokes/memes either.
If it results in a cartoon it better be 2d in or near the G4 style we know and love. Not just for our, but also for Hasbro's best interests.
The most extreme hollywood wokery seems to be largely dying down by now so that's good, but as nice as it'd be if they don't drizzle that bullshit in, I wouldn't bet on it.

thread, I think the three biggest questions are:
1. Is this going to be for G6?
2. Is it going to have humans and ponies in the same setting?

3. Will it be canon to G4 and G5 i.e. the same continuity?

I hope the answer to all of these is no, and especially 1 and 2 if it turns out 3 is a yes

As long as we can keep g4 untouched that' the biggest priority but I woul also hope this isn't gonna set the tone for G6 FFS; MIND YOU, G5 died a death without a story conclusion, and Opaline's voice actor confirmed there were no finalised plans for the story in the works, any what-could-have-beens so it would be pretty hard to link the Amazon movie to it if there's no actual ending to thread it to. So that makes 3 unlikely and 1 hard to achieve.

If that's the case, who care's what 2 is? Just ignore it.

I'll never reach closure with this franchise, will I?
I remember being autistically invested in this show from the end of 2013 to the start of 2015 (I can't explain why I feel I have memories from 2012 tho), then I've stopped caring for a while and in 2019 I discovered it had ended based on a few tweets on my timeline. Then I got a nostalgic attack around 2022 that I wanted to wash away, so I binge-watched the entire show to see if seeing what I've missed would let it out of my system, but it didn't. None of the ways G4 concluded (Magical Mystery Cure, The Last Problem and whatever G5 implies about the M6's future) left me satisfied. I thought that participating in the antithology and giving to the fandom something in return for what it gave to me would help, but it didn't do much.
There's something about MLP and how Hasbro handled it that makes me feel stuck with it in a manner that other franchises I hold dear haven't. The only way I can imagine getting a satisfying conclusion that would easily allow me to move on with my life without intrusive thoughts would either be Faust getting a final season to end what she started as she wanted, or a series of movies with a meta-narrative diving into what the show, the fandom and its cultural impact actually meant (like what the Evangelion movies do to some extent) but this is very unlikely given how Hasbro manages their IPs.
I'll watch the live-action non-sense anyway, either streamed by anons or at the movie theater, to see if it can at least laugh at the train-wreck this movie will be.
