I’m curious: do most Horde servers let people keep their weapons when they die or is it the norm to have to play “finders keepers, losers weepers” when looking for dropped weapons? I don’t like having to base decisions on whether to buy more expensive weapons based on how confident I’ll survive the wave and I don’t like the griefing potential that comes with this mechanic, where people can pick up dropped weapons from people with very small amounts of cash, who would essentially just be useless in subsequent waves.

Yeah, but that doesn't really happen on the /mlp/ server. you can usually just ask for dosh and people to look for your guns (if they haven't been blasted away by Source physics [some weapons can do this]).
A class like warden is really good if you want to try things out without losing everything, because you'll keep your towers even if you die. Those towers help everyone, and Horde, at the end of the day, is a co-op gamemode. Engineer is another class, though you ideally want to place your turrets where they won't die while you're dead, and you can even make money from their kills while you're dead. Anons tend to congregate around Engineer turrets, or follow their minions, so it's a safe class.
Also, playing safe and not seeking out kills is the best preventative to stop you from losing your guns. If you need extra cash, there are other mares. You could also just use budget high-power weapons like a deagle if your class allows it, and it's worth remembering you can change classes once per wave during the buy phase, so it's not like you can't, for instance, play Survivalist to stay alive (which, IMO, does live up to its namesake) and make some money, then switch to a DPS class for access to the higher tier weapons.
And if you're still dying and dropping your weapons, just use the camera to go to where you died and keep an eye on your weapons. That way, you can see who might pick it up, or where it might get flung to. Keep in mind some maps have fucked up collisions, so weapons occasionally hide under map geometry, but you can still try to pick it up when you're back alive.

It happened to me just recently when someone picked up my Q3 chain gun and I was left with the default minigun that I had to keep reloading. It’s good on the earlier waves, but not when there are massive hordes coming after us.

But there are also times where we are going to die no matter what and the best thing to do is continuing to fire, since not much else would make a difference. I don’t remember whether anyone remembers this, but I once sacrificed my own life to save that of our medic and kept firing into the enemy he was facing because I knew that getting away from one particular enemy was going to be an impossible ask.

Let me rephrase: intentional griefing doesn't really happen on the server... Most just don't know any better. I've had plenty of times where I lost my gun and I saw who picked it up, called them out, but they were too focused on the buy menu to drop it to me in time. Btw, The quake and doom weapons are memes, IMO (though I've heard the BFG is good)

Again, communication would solve this. Death spirals happen because of DPS being too risky and dying, or the DPS not having enough money. Enemies scale rapidly on higher difficulties as player count goes up. Money not getting circulated properly tends to be difficult to remedy, unfortunately. The rich get richer...

DOOM guns are some of the only ones available for use by any class so it's definitely possible someone less observant would pick them up since they're just small jpegs on the floor

likely never on purpose but some classes you don't need to use all your weight so do ask around if you see it picked up

-Added new maps to mapsweepers though the gamemode map vote is still kind of scuffed so IDK if they'll show up there. (they show up in normal map vote fine tho.)
-Added NPC pathing system so they shouldn't sit around doing nothing on big maps.
-Added spawn protection that last 15 seconds in map sweepers.
-Added the medkit to the buy menu for 500 creds.
-Forked/fixed and added the sandwhich to ttt_content to prevent its constant nil errors.

I'll be forking the mapvote mod in the near future because I'm sick of it breaking every other week.

Just gonna remove too big/small maps from the MS pool until they sort that shit out, I think the spawns causing crashes has been fixed though.

-Made it so cultists do not damage the cult leader by default
-Added ANOTHER check to the necromancer zombie revival event
-Added magneto sticks to the zombies loadout (hope it works this time)
-Added the Wrath role, which is an Innocent that respawns as a Traitor if he's teamkilled. (he doesn't know of his role until he dies though)

Will probably make it so necromancers can't be hurt by their zombies either.

Not particularly, we did a hard reset of TTT roles earlier this year and only started recently readding some to add some variety to the gameplay.
The way its set up now is that an "Undecided" shows up when 7 players are on and he gets to choose his role from a list. That includes the vanilla roles + the new ones (Necromancer and Cult Leader mostly, Jester is disabled lol).

A lot of them are just subroles for the 3 main roles (Innocents, Traitors, and Detectives) like Arsonist is just a traitor that spawns with a flamethrower and has fire immunity and the Revolutionary is just a Detective with the Traitor's shop. Crewmate roles:

Engineer: Can use “traitor doors” and gain access to regions of the map that only impostors can normally use.

Scientist: Can use a gadget to see the vital signs of all players from within his pool of weapons.

Impostor roles:

Morphling/Shapeshifter: Can disguise as other players, similarly to the spy from TF2. Disguises can only last for certain periods of time and this time must be used wisely. The disguise kit can be accessed from within the player’s pool of weapons.

Admin: Can catch players “cheating”, i.e. performing necessary tasks to complete the game. Such tasks can include firing at other impostors, using the traitor tester, collecting coins for the traitor tester, stocking up on guns or ammo, picking up and “using”objects, and switching weapons. To catch a player cheating, he must use his admin tools to observe specific players and they are “marked” once they are caught. The admin may kill marked players without leaving their bodies behind and has temporary access to the !jail, !tp, and !jailtp commands, plus a physics gun that can move players and players only. To balance this all out, the admin may only jail, move, or “kick” players while he is using a special player model that is more visible to other players and easier to hit, but the admin’s name is always anonymous while this model is active, including in server messages. He may also turn invisible to avoid being targeted. While the admin is not using this custom player model, he cannot turn invisible, “kick”, move, teleport, or jail players. Each of the admin commands operates on a cooldown to prevent spam. The player model and admin tools may be accessed in the player’s weapons.

Roles for both teams:

Detective/Defective: Now available for impostors. Deals critical damage on targets matched with a DNA scan. Useful for swiftly killing impostors as a crewmate, while useful for swiftly getting vengeance picks as an impostor.

it's so different from TTT that you'd need to make it another gamemode entirely
you couldn't put this on top of normal traitor roles because the rest of them would have all innos dead before you can do anything
that's assuming it's unanimously agreed that we all would want something like that or anyone would want to be that when it's their turn to be traitor
keep it to amogus because it doesn't fit into TTT
try and code it yourself if you really want it as a gamemode

Alright, I've re-enabled disguisers for traitors. You can access the disguise sub-menu in the shop menu, or use a bind. The default key for the disguise toggle is Keypad Enter, and can be rebound in console with "ttt_toggle_disguise".
When you toggle the disguiser:

>The user's health and name will be hidden.
>The user will appear as "someone in disguise" for suit zoom voice commands. Example: "I see someone in disguise."
I don't imagine this will see much use, which is why it's currently 0 credits.
