This is my main issue with the direction the con has been going. Why do we need to expand so much when the target audience was already reached during Mare Fair 1? We'd be far better off limiting attendance and growing stably and slowly, but they want to bring in a flood of people to dilute the experience. So many people, that they cant hardly bring on enough staff to handle it and it will probably be a technical shitshow once again. They're so desperate for staff that they are offering early badge purchase for next year for anyone who does staff this year, which is insanely retarded. This fucks over and further limits the number of badges for people who support the cons in other ways, like making panels for your con, or vendor merch, or even just the people who can't spare the time to volunteer, so they get a higher tier badge. This really is the last year to really see if Mare Fair will go down like all the rest of the cons, homogenized, debased, and infested by furries, or if it can truly be a great con that people are proud to be apart of.

Yes it is a fair point to say it's more exclusionary due to being 18+, but this is a reasonable sort of exclusion to most because much of the pony fandom especially these days is mostly 18+ anyways, and most cons are about celebrating the fandom rather than appealing to the target demographic.
The benefit of that sort of policy is far greater anyways because of the laws that exist in current society, mixing minors and adults does not work well if you want to have activities which cater to both because it will seem like you're bringing adults into something slated as being acceptable for kids and hosting NSFW panels and etc in their presence which is just a bad look, so it's a totally reasonable thing to want to do when the majority of the attendance is adults.

On the other hand there's little benefit to making it /mlp/-only other than satisfying some purist desires from people here. It would not suddenly be le ebin nazi con 2025 with 0 rules, the same rules would still be in place because these are more a result of hotels rather than a desire to promote any specific sort of content.
All this would do would diminish people's ability to hang out with friends (because again, many people enjoy interacting with others outside /mlp/) and prevent people from making new friends.

As I said before though, if you think this is some revolutionary idea and as significant as making it 18+, then go make your own con and see how it does. Convention space is a free market waiting for good ideas to prove themselves.
