1) Check the BOM box in the customization HUD. It will turn your avatar white; that is by design. You're supposed to keep it white.
2) Wear one of the BOM universals. Most ponies will want blank for a smooth pony look, or velvet for a slight grain.

In the customization HUD, I would really recommend against velvet or fur unless you want to look weird and bumpy
For the BOM layer it makes less of a difference, but the HUD options are what determine the normal and spec maps

If you need more fine-grained control (gradients and pupil sizes and whatnot), you would probably have to drag the pupil texture into that advanced eye customization tab, and I don't have that texture on hand

Ok fuck it, I just grabbed the "thin pupil" layer from the devkit psd, made it white i.e. tintable, and uploaded it.

So,
1. Navigate to the eye customization tab
2. Right-click and edit it
3. Make sure "select face" is selected in your edit window
4. Left-click the pupil texture you want to change in the edit window, the little thumbnail next to the "layer 3" text. This will ensure that only that face is selected, and not your whole HUD.
5. Navigate to Texture -> Blinn-Phong -> Diffuse in the editor window. Instead of picking a texture, enter this into the UUID field at the bottom, and click "apply UUID":

Honestly it is a good thing. Everytime I look at the inventory system and say "I wish I had _ feature to make sorting this mess easier" I am reminded that this game becoming more intuitive might make it more normalfag friendly, or that it might be a sign of the LL staff "getting with the times". Sure LL sucks, this game sucks, the viewers suck, but I worry any feature changes like that might be a sign of broader changes to come that make this odd corner of the internet more difficult to maintain. Might as well ask, what would make an object on your character disobey the idea that the XYZ of the editor is off kilter?

Talking about Moon's tail in particular; something about it means that when I go to different areas, the tail gets misaligned, because the blue up-and-down axis moves somewhere. So I have to go into the edit tool, hold control, re-orient the tail, and then move it so it's in the right spot again.
Like, if it can't be helped I guess I'll deal with it, but why is this happening? Shouldn't it happen to the mane too? They're both just big blobs since I'm pretty sure they're designed for the EP...

You're going to need to explain this a little better, because I have no idea what you're talking about
If it's just randomly going off center, you either have it on a bone that's getting deformed by an animation in your inventory, or there's a script in the tail that's changing its position.

Try this
- Log out and log back in
- If your tail is off center, fix it one final time
- If it happens again, don't fuck with the position. Right-click your nametag and go to Avatar > Avatar Health > Reset Skeleton and Animations

If that fixes it, you'll know it's an animation/deformer thing
