Actually, anon was a professional upsies guy. In the store he worked at, shorter ponies could ask him for help and get both the product they desired, and a bit of fun at the same time.
Thankfully the demand is still there, as some ponies still prefer a personal touch in their shopping experience.

It's a parody of one of Gary Larson's most infamous The Far Side comic strips. The strip shows a cow in front of a table. There are some peculiar looking objects on the table, and the caption is "Cow tools." Larson apparently meant for the objects to be nonsensical; the joke is supposed to be more about the idea of cows making tools than the tools themselves. Instead, readers erupted with questions because they thought they were supposed to understand what the tools actually were. That strip provoked more reader mail than any other in The Far Side's decade-plus run.
