To be honest, Vogelfag is right with this. Not that Season 2 is bad. But with Season 2 having more in common in feel with Seasons 3 to 9 than with Season 1. Season 1 has just such a unique #vibe to it that Season 2 just does not have. The characters, especially Pinkie Pie and Twilight have such a different feel in Season 1 than later.

I love how Zoomers can agree S2 feels nothing like S1 starting with Lesson Zero when pointed out, instead they agree it feels 90% like S3-S9, yet they still refuse to accept that S2-S9's style is bad compared to S1's style. So it's less a problem of autism and more a problem of taste. Similar to Hannah & Barbera V.S. Dietrich Tom & Jerry or early seasons PPG & Dexter's Lab to later seasons which everyone agrees on.

I think that bunching the seasons together is solely done to make arguments about what's shit and what isn't shit. The simple reality is that pretty much every season feels different than everything that came before it, the show really struggled with consistency.

It's made to be simpler and neater. Finding the differences in S2-S9 is splitting hairs. I can give them if you want to, of course. VP of Hasbro himself has said that when he wrote the Chyralis Mean6 episode he simply copied from Return of Harmony.

You know what actually feels wholly different in execution ranging from voice acting to character traits from S2-S9? Pony Life and G5. And that one Fluttershy & Pinkie Netflix happy birthday video on Youtube. It shows how a more confident and laidback Fluttershy compares to Baby Cakes & A Friend In Deed Pinkie Pie.

nah, too much of S5 was about travelling to random parts of the world nopony cares about for special missions instead of issues in or around ponyville that evolve naturally out of everyday life

s4 was a season full of pandering to the fandom more than it should've (s3 as well) to the detriment of its quality. McCarthy just can't contain herself. Haber is respects Fausts vision the most so s5 had a focus on friendships and the affects losing friends can have on ponies.
