So what? The original writers wrote garbage like Boast Busters and Swarm of the Century. S3 is the realization that the original writers got lucky in making a few cute episodes and that they have no fucking clue what coherent world building is the very moment they had to advance the plot in a meaningful way. What they did with Discord, Trixie, and Twilight are some of the worst decisions in the show. S3, and 4, are bottom of the barrel slop purely focused on pandering to bronies, the definition of soulless. s8-9 was just as bad in the writing department however you could feel some heart went into the production. s5-7 skyrocketed in quality because they brought in passionate new blood that loved the show and what it represents to replace the old boomers that have no idea what they were doing.
