What's the precise episode where you realised once and for all that everything was going to shit and that the show was going where you refused to follow? Hard mode: no Canterlot Wedding.

i dont have a problem with canterlot wedding but season 3 felt off all the way through, beyond that, the show never really felt the same but had moments that made me pleasantly surprised and kept me watching all the way up until season 8 and 9 when it becomes wall to wall abysmal dogshit.

Filli Vanilli was the final step into 'bad fanfiction' territory for me. There were a few earlier S4 episodes that had the same problem, so I should've worked it out sooner. At least my boy Big Mac got a song in, I suppose. Sort of.

Manehattan wasn't all that bad in that regard. They had high-rises and horse-drawn taxi cabs (granted, not bright yellow ones, that's a lazy ponification of a modern trope) around the early 20th century, which is where my tech level headcanon roughly sits. The only part of it that's undeniably modern-day are the big, glass-walled skyscrapers in the background. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad enough to set alarm bells off.

Manehattan is the only world shattering place in the show for me. Way too technologically advanced. Especially the buildings. Everything we had seen to that point was like you said early 20th century. My headcannon says late 19th century but same ballpark. Then we have straight up modern buildings in Manehattan while ponyville still has thatch roofs. Into the garbage it goes

You're misremembering a little. These are just normal posters. They're obviously meant to evoke the image of Times Square, but they're not tech-transgressive on their own. Then again, I'm referencing from S4, here, so maybe there's something like that later on that I'm forgetting.

It's because it's a non-pony-centric episode. It's probably also because Spike being an effette wimp and getting pushed around by his peers hits too close to home for some viewers, especially those who find themselves drawn to Mongolian horse archery discussion forums.

Spike being effeminate was the single most endearing part of the episode to me. As a gay kid i had lots of girlfriends and loved the whole being clean, prim and proper but i kept being pushed into sports and having guy friends. I ended up being bullied quite alot and hated school. I did finally met a few friends who were tame enough and didn't mind my gentle mannerisms which made it all bearable. More to the point, watching that episode for the first time as an adult actually made me cry as i felt like spike in that moment trying my best to fit in with the bravado that was expected of me when it really just wasn't me

I don't like it because it makes dragons boring. The concept of a dragon migration is fascinating, but then he just ends up hanging out with some dipshit teenagers and there's nothing interesting about dragons whatsoever.

This, the episode left me with blue balls. It looked like a grand adventure then he just fucks around with some annoying kids. I guess plot needs to happen or something, if the dragons turned out to be cool then spike would want to be a dragon

There were lots of moments, but Daring Don't was one of the ones that kinda took me out of it and I felt like my enjoyment and expectations of the show were lowered. Definitely, Season 8 premiere. It just killed it all for me, from then on I never praised or expected anything from the show, I only watched out of obligation and because I knew it was ending.

> Hard mode: no Canterlot Wedding.
Magical Mystery Cure then.
The idea of Princess Twilight Sparkle was not all that horrible in the head, but overall execution of it was, to say the least, poorly done.
The alicornizarion after a lame-ass story with unfinished spell, and not after a much more grand and honorable deed? It seems to happen so abruptly, but it was a major character change that last to the end?
This is where I understood that the team of makers has just lost their care about the show and its characters and ideas

You paint me as some kinda drama queen. There were no such moment. I'm still planning to watch the rest of the last season(s?), and pony life, and maybe even the last equestria girls movie. I just didn't get to it yet. Maybe later. If glowniggers won't destroy the internet by then, that is.

I dunno. When we saw the Rainbow Dash toy with a flying turtle and then May the Best Pet Win came out a little later, I kinda figured they sold out and it was all gonna be downhill from there. I think that kinda tempered my expectations and cushioned the blow. I think probably by season 6 I was kinda meh about it, I wouldn't rush to watch the newest episodes right when they came out anymore. I didn't even bother to watch more than a couple episodes of season 9 until like last year. I got as far as this scene and then I decided that they just didn't even care anymore so why bother?

I was in denial for a long time, but I think Uprooted was the one. It's not even the worst s8 ep, but for some reason it broke me.
>student shits being the one caring about the tree instead of the m6
>song is really bad and forgettable by Ingram standards
>annoying conflict that's solved instantly once they stop being retards
>the students gain their own super speshul playset location for no reason (never used again for anything btw)

Ticket Master by immediately rehashing the previous badly written episode. I still trucked on out of curiosity but I got bored after RoH, I thought the show was just okay and that s2 would be its last.

I gave the show another try after it ended because learning it lasted 9 seasons surprised me and then I ended up really enjoying the show, even the first season went far better than my first impression somehow. The middle seasons were amazing though, s4-7 was the most fun I've had in a cartoon.

Then I boot up s8, huh who are all these characters what the fuck is going on. Right then I knew things were going to shit the bed. I look it up and learn I have to watch a movie. Being forced to watch something outside of the show for context is a big big BIG no-no, clear corporate exec meddling. Then the movie was shit although Tempest was cute. I still like the final seasons though, but I think my love for the characters is carrying it and I find some of the creatures cute so they don't offend me like it does to others.

So Ticket Master (false positive) and The Movie (the true harbinger).

fpbp, the show was obviously declining by that point but the school was just a whole new direction of shit
I remember seeing the first look at the diversity 6 (yona especially) and thinking it was a realistic-looking piece of bait someone on here had made from how bad it looked

My favorite part is how throughout the last seasons, feels like half the episodes have one of the m6 going
>I'd like to do thing x, but I'm too busy with the fucking school
Not even the writers could make it sound like a positive thing in-universe.

Knowing who these all of these new characters and races that came out of absolutely nowhere is important to me. The transition from s7 finale to s8 premiere was just so jarring that it rose red flags. Like something must have happened inbetween these events to explain this sudden concern for domesticating creatures and it's because of the movie revealing these creatures and working together with them helped save Equestria and Twilight's experience with these creatures gave her a newfound compassion for them. The movie is very important to understand the motivations for Twilight's international friendship school.

I guess, but even then it makes little sense when only one of the 6 races of the students had anything to do with the movie.
