Twilight's "brother" is actually her father. Cadence got pregnant with Twilight when she was very young. Her parents were presented to her as "big brother" and "babysitter" so she would adjust better.

The idea is similar to the spike is twilight's son headcanon due to her using magic to make his egg hatch
The idea is that to make a life that never was supposed to be, one must implant the idea of a being for it to function
So when young filly twilight shot magic into the egg, she also gave the baby spike her personality as well as some of her own memories
Spike as he grew up acted a bit like twilight but more how a dragon one would act due to different physiologies affecting his brain
