Also answering the question about cleaning plush... Id say be carefull and first check caus some fabricks hold together better than others. The fur had no losses but when vaccuming the mane there were deffinitely a few blue hairs in the water...
Also clean your mares on a sunny day so you can lay them in sun to dry, and if they still feel wet (mmm wet mares..) leave them for the night near like a fan with electric heater (not sure what those are called in english)...

>Her smile becomes wider and wider, splitting up to beyond her eyes
>The pirate thrashes about in your hold and kicks back, but your augmented strength is more than enough to lock him in place
>When she stops just in front of you, she opens her mouth
>Behind the buck teeth are rows and rows of shark's teeth, canines, an octopus's beak, a snake's fangs
>She lets him give out one long scream before snapping down on both of you

>You're not crushed, but enveloped in black with Nightmare's cyan magic flowing around you
>Your still-screaming pirate is yanked out of your grasp
>Her magic recedes from you and the smog is pulled back
>If it weren't for your helmet anti-glare, the system's sun would have blinded you
>Nightmare Moon, back to her normal proportions, smiles at you as she levitates three clumps of smog above the hangar's floor

I'd say it's more the fandom in general has a tendency to put Luna in those grimdark scenarios than just us moonfags.
In this specific case it's due to the popularity of LoonyLuna in the early fandom (and a long running tumblr blog with that version of her) that spawned a shitload of art.
It's like asking why moonfags love Gamer Luna so much - many of us don't, but the trend more or less still lives in the fandom, so we still get art of her.

As I was trying to answer this myself, being retarded as usual, I began to wonder what are the hardships of alicorns. There was this thing in storytelling that characters are shaped by their flaws and limitations, IIRC, even just as simple as being mortal means having limited time to live a life, so driven by other character traits they will do specific decisions. I could imagine a bit more easily an earth pony living deep in the continent, whose lifelong dream was to see the sea she only heard about beforehoof. Not enough funds, family to take care of (she loves them deeply but you know), no time. Finally, with help of somepony else she goes on a journey of her life.
Alicorns and princesses at that, it seems like not even sky's the limit for them. What problems do they face? Losing mortal friends, for sure, but are there less grim issues that do matter to them? Maybe I'm dumb, but it appears as if them caring about little things like above doesn't suit them that much. Like stories about them need to be filled with some grandiose, unless it's a generic "AAAAA I WANT TO HUG HER SO MUCH PET HER WITHERS SMELL HER STARFILLED MANE FEEL HER VELVETY HOOVES AROUND MY NECK AND WINGS BRUSHING AGAINST MY BACK" kind of thing. Which I still appreciate very, very much, but it just feels... like not giving her the finessed understanding she deserves, she precisely as Luna, the alicorn princess of the night.

For me, the darker aspects of her is what made me so drawn to her in the first place and the fandoms makings of it made me love her even more. In a land of mostly sunshine and joy she's one of the only ones we've seen that truly had it rough. Im pretty sure losing your sister and being stuck for 1000 years hits alot worse in the head than whats usually said and Luna Eclipse really showed just how difficult it must be for her to come back to a society who grew without her. And yet despite that she still grew past those hurdles and became something better, Watching her push through and make something out of that pain(sometimes literally) gives me genuine hope when going thorugh my own problems, it feels like every single thing I go through gets easier knowing she'd smile everytime I push through it, I have a feeling she'd at least appreciate it.
