I have a question. I was digging around to try and find a local model since I've been running into the ole 429 from openrouter again and again and again. I was going through posts and someone linked this.
Is this real? and what models would I have access to/want to use? Would this be good for the VN?

If so, yeah, it's both real and legit.
In fact, if you were using the DeepSeek model for "free" on OpenRouter, they were the provider.

To give a quick rundown:
>Chute was initially totally free, for everyone.
>They were also a provider for OpenRouter, free.
>They bled money, so they decided to have a $5 one-time payment before you could access the models on their website.
>They still bled money, so they switched to the subscription you posted.

The problem was that they were still a free provider for OpenRouter, which meant you could pay $10 only once and have 1000 free requests a day with their models, a better offer than their current subscriptions.

So they decided to heavily restrict the number of requests they allow at the same time if they come from OR.
That's the error 429 you get, if too many users try at the same time, you can be dismissed.
That doesn't happen if you subscribe to them directly, of course.

So yeah, they are legit, and this will work if you want an easy solution without proxy bullshit or similar, and if you like DeepSeek, Kimi, etc.
The VN may need a quick update to be compatible with them, but if you decide to use them, just post about it here and I'll look into making it work. It shouldn't be a big problem.

I use AviQ1F, but I've modified multiple parts of it over the months to add more modular toggles for some things I used to put in the authors note. I find that you can get quite drastically different responses by simply telling deepseek what you want to change in an OOC command and then removing that from the history so it doesn't pollute the context
You need to do this and keep pruning old responses so it doesn't get locked into a loop of isms

Depending on what lens you view cutie marks through, they can be problematic... at least by modern human sensibilities. At face value, a cutie mark simply broadcasts your talent to the world. There's also the issue of social sorting. A cutie mark instantly stratifies ponies. no you do not need to
think this way - no matter how many messages you have in chat - 5 or 20 or 50 or 100 - if you set cachingAtDepth 2 - it will always be caching ALL but the last 2 messages in chat. when you write a new message in chat (bump from say 108 messages to 109) - a new cache will be send to OpenRouter including the newfound changes in chat
what you need to do is to set cachingAtDepth to 2-8 depending on how your preset works. if you dont use absolute position for prompt (you or your preset) then cachingAtDepth 4 is fine in like 80% cases

For this run, I switched between Gemini and Claude on OpenRouter, with a bit of Chorbo too. Gemini works fine on OR for some reason. I also improved the settings so the issue where you sometimes had to restart the game for API changes to apply is fixed, now they take effect immediately.
I'm testing a bunch of models to see how they handle the format (most do fine), their proactivity, etc. Did the same with Sandbox mode as well, since you can now have characters dynamically enter or locations shift.
Some models are still hesitant to change locations unless you really push them. Gemini handles that really well, it's not my favorite model for Tavern, but it might actually be for the VN. Shame about the free tier being messed up though; I used to rely on it before all the issues.
