Okay, the timing ended up being almost right. since MareFair is going on, I feel like *this* needs to be discussed.

So first of all, why do the Popen models look so strange compared to the PPM2 models? I've been playing Gmod for a while now, and spent a whole month learning how to perfect my custom mane and tail, and even longer working with PAC3.

But now I've realize that Durpy's PPM2 models look so much more accurate to G4, and I can feel more attached to it, whereas the Popen ones look like some shitty mutant baby hybrid between G4 and G5. I mean, just the weird facial structure alone just feels more jank. I was able to get my Gmod model to look so much more accurate to my ref over time. I'm going to have to be more creative when I replicate it over to SL.

Hey guys, so I want to do something extremely particular, and I'm just not sure how to do it. And I don't want to ask on the regular SL channels.

A lot of the gestures in the game have, you know, the sound and animations, but what's really annoying is that if they're not already in your inventory, you can't copy them around to other gestures you wanna make.

But I started learning about the UUIDs, and I was wondering, is it possible to just copy the UUID of sounds and animations from gestures in your inventory, and then just "splice" them back in your inventory as an asset without having to pay the $10L to reupload them, because what's the point? I mean, they already exist on the CDN.

It would just be nice if there was a way to have all the sounds and animations in my inventory from the gestures. I don't want to do anything nefarious like copybot or rip assets I didn't pay for, these are just for the silly Popen gestures that have full permissions so I can make other custom gestures. Is there a way to do what I want to do, or not?

No, and in fact, I don't believe you can get the UUID of sounds from gestures at all.
Even if you had the UUID, I don't think you could get it in your inventory. You can however use a script to play a sound by UUID, if you wanted to make a hud for them or something.
Animations are different because you cannot play them by UUID in a script, and the reason for that is that you CAN get the UUID if your viewer has the "animation explorer" feature - just turn off all your other animations to make it easier (including taking off AOs and expression huds etc.), play the gesture and it will show you the UUID of any animation it plays. But again there's no way to actually use this.

The fact that you can't get them from gestures is somewhat intentional as far as I'm aware because it lets people give out gestures with e.g. transfer perms without also having to give out sounds or animations with those same perms, e.g. you can sell a gesture and you can also sell the actual animations from it for free use separately for a higher price. Yes most of the time it's shitty and it just leads to gestures made with free/transfer assets but the source assets get lost over time when they should've been available, but that's how LL's permission system works and they will probably never change it otherwise those "creators" that do try to abuse it to its fullest will get mad.

I spotted a new listing of these two when browsing on XiaoMa recently and am really looking forward to when they are released. I hope they will actually be available around here as well.
