Losing weight isn't a difficult equation and there are no real short cuts to it. It really is more consistency and discipline: consistency in doing the exercise and discipline to actually do it. The biggest thing is to do something active and to make it a habit. Having exercise be a habit makes things easier and finding an activity that forces you to move that you like makes it even easier.

In terms of losing weight, I believe there are studies showing that cardio and weightlifting combined are more effective for losing fat, in contrast to one or the other alone. Look to increase your NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis), ie things that aren't explicit exercise but activity. Try to do things like parking further away in the parking lot, using stairs instead of the elevator, etc. Some other NEAT activities are unconscious things like fidgeting.

If you want to get stronger, look at the starting strength or a simple push/pull/lift routine and branch out from there. If you want to just try to slim down, look at more cardio focus (eg. running, hiking, cycling, swimming, etc) rather than a weightlifting focus (though I'd still do it, with a focus on hypertrophy, ie. higher reps and lower weight, instead of strength, ie lower reps with higher weight).

As for diet, more protein, veggies and fruit. If you find it hard to adjust your diet, then cut down and plan on giving yourself a smaller portion of your beloved junk food (read the label and portion yourself like 100 Calories) ONCE per day. Going on a crash diet is hard and not really mentally sustainable. Losing weight and being healthy is a complete lifestyle change, not a temp workaround.

Despite everything, it was an awesome con. I didn't get to party nearly as much as I would've liked due to some flight fuckery coming in making me be several hours late and wake up dehydrated on thursday which then carried into friday and saturday since the thursday was so busy I didn't have time to rest and rehydrate.
Hosting a panel for the first time was fantastic. I think I kinda like talking to an audience, even if prep takes a shitton of time since I otherwise won't know what to say.
Overall, I think I tried to do too much and ended up experiencing and enjoying too little as result.
