Hey flutterfags, I had a question for you guys.
I believe that the mane 6 all pretty much have at least two levels to their character, a surface one and a deeper less obvious one.
For instance, pinkie, on the surface is loud, cheery and always ready to throw a party. But deep down, she does so because she cares and simply wants everyone to have a good time as she knows how gray and boring life can be. Rainbow is brash and flaunts about every chance she gets, but she's fundamentally insecure about her capabilities to win or succeed which she hides under this facade. And so on..

My question was, looking at Fluttershy, I struggle to find that second layer to her character. I seems even her animal love is a way to cope against her crippling lack of confidence and doesn't really come out as disinterested (see her behavior at the grand galloping gala towards animals, or her flip out with iron will).
As such, what would you guys say Fluttershy's hidden trait is? What's that extra thing that makes you fall for her rather than anypony else? I would love to shed new light on this.

She's canonically depressed and coping.

No, she's a rainbow baby, so her parents brought her up being way too excited about every little thing she does, she genuinely believes she's the best at everything.

There's no false bottom, she really is a genuinely kind, shy, animal-loving mare. That's why she's the only one of the Mane 6 whom Discord could not trick into betraying her Element, and why she snapped out of being a bully in less than 2 days after Iron Will's assertiveness training.
