Current dramas are:
1: that apple split
is a legitimate retard, like actually a gigantic idiot with no self control and no interest in accounting for consequences. First of all, giant idiots make up 90% of comedy. Secondly, his stupidity has implied explanations beyond his literal mental deficiencies, and the end of the current episode hints that he blames consequences which he could have prevented on his lack of meds while his internal monologues construct helplessness narratives along the lines of "obviously things would go like this, it was inevitable." His arrogance continues to prevent him from really admitting fault in that way, preferring to narrativize the most glamours main-character narrative it can instead. Lastly, his relationship with a stunted apathetic and autistic murderhobo requires that he exercise some degree of control instead of totally surrendering, which means that he has to undergo personal growth in order to have his relationship actually work so that he can be anything more than a pet which occasionally gets taped to the ceiling as punishment. Plus, without any pushback, he'll be murdered eventually.
So this drama underlies a clear journey of personal growth where extreme learned helplessness is overcome or smothers him. It is easy to empathize with if you notice it is there, and explains the particular made up bullshit which split speaks into the world.
2: big mac
Next to everyone else but normal-soarin, he looks reasonable. The drama happens to him, in the form of an alicorn ripping away the ceiling and claiming they are married, and a cat leading him on and then getting similarly possessive. His prior relationship sucked because he made it suck, and so he's actively trying to form a better one. Since he hasn't already fallen in love, he has to navigate the perfectly mundane world of dating, in which his partner is ultimately arbitrary because he started with the goal of finding a partner. This is why he's paired with uncertain basket cases, because he has the active goal of making a relationship work, so the challenge must come from the other person, and also because such people are the ones who most need and desire a partner like that, who has the intentional goal of making it work no matter how much they suck.
Together, they form both sides of the self-actualization fight, ability and goal.
I don't mention s+b because they aren't really active at this exact moment and are used as parts of other people's stories at the moment, and are therefore not "this" drama, which is what you asked about.
I don't mention the cat guy because his ark may already be over and therefore isn't really a factor in one's investment in the show overall, yet. One more appearance will change or confirm that, probably.
