Is there an actual reason why rewatchers get so much hate in the anni channel, calling them shills, hating every emote that's from rewatch or is it everyone just memeing about it for lulz? As the other Anon hinted at, it's really just a (minor) difference of culture. The main difference between the anni and the rewatch is the rewatchfags are generally more "strict" and less "live and let live". The rewatch started as a really comfy and casual weekly rewatch, but over the course of a couple years became weirdly elitist and kinda full of themselves. I'm talking about extremes here, not the average rewatch Anon. The main reason I think this is because a while back, the OP of the rewatch started a "new content this week" segment. It was great, and eventually people even started making content and linking it for the weekly segment. Then the OP and some of the regulars began having an existential crisis, because after all, this was the rewatch stream, not the "new content made this week" stream. So they removed that segment entirely and stopped showing new content. Eventually they realized that was a really retarded thing to do, and instead moved the new fan content section to the end of the month, which I think was a totally fair thing to do. It's also essential to note that a ton of effort went into the weekly rewatches and during Covid, they were easily the best part of my week (a sentiment I'm sure many Anons have). I'm grateful for its existence, I just don't like the overall direction it took. It's not my flavour of autism.

tl;dr The anni is all about watching the good, the bad, and the ugly as it relates to G4 My Little Pony. The rewatch is (charitably) only about watching the good. It's a simple difference, but it has huge implications for the general atmosphere of the respective groups. The anni is FAR closer to what old /mlp/ was like compared to the rewatch. It's not even comparable.
