Its time to remake a classic thread.
Which of these G5 concepts were the best. I think Row 4 has the best style and I hope G6 uses it.

Making your main character an earth pony is a mistake. The mild success of all generations compared to the astounding success of the one where the main character is a unicorn should be enough proof.

I feel like if you did a second pass on row 5 it would be really cute, but the chubby faces are killing it as is.

Realistically, if they're actually considering doing G6 as a G4 reboot I don't think they're going to mess with the characters. It's been nearly a decade since they were originally playing with this idea, the characters are pretty heavily solidified at this point.

Transformers has done all sorts of variations on the characters since that's an established standard for how they handle the franchise. MLP thus far has never had them outright saying 'yes, let's do a new generation with the same set of characters', if they really do this it's going to be a huge change and likely one born of desperately wanting to make sure they have a sure winner in terms of sales. Doing a 'let's switch it up' play is the exact opposite of what they're wanting right now. The original G5 concept was trying to deal with what they saw as G4 fatigue and it evolved into what they eventually put out, G6 is in a very different place.

The original mane 6 is crystalline perfection and the other designs is a genuine eye melting sludge of colors that serve no purpose other than tingle the designer smooth tumblr rotten brain. It’s so painfully obvious they want to make every character quirky but looking at all of these you only end up with a bunch of shamelessly stupid blobs of nothing.
