The Raven, while one of the fundamental pillars of horror literature, is more of a "read it yourself" story.
The setting is too serious to take it as a gag. Sure, the Simpsons got away with it, but I always felt it was the weakest bit in the "Horror Treehouse" saga.
At least they recovered some momemtum when Homer was the one scared, and not the kids.
