Made me sick just imagining it. I disagree with keeping it from her. Even if she never found out, you would know. And if you truly loved her, then the guilt would rot the relationship from the inside, because every "I love you" or affectionate moment would carry that hidden truth behind it.
The kindest path forward isn’t about sparing her feelings, but about honoring her as a mare whose feelings matter. Telling her would hurt her deeply, but it would at least show respect for her and for the truth. Hiding it might feel like protecting her, but you’d really just be protecting yourself from facing what you did.
In my case, I imagine Dash would probably take betrayal hard. The idea that someone she gave her complete trust to didn’t value it. She’d lash out and probably call me some deserving names, but the real wound would be internal and the evidence of her hurt would be hidden in a rain cloud far away from town. The only thing I could hope for then would be forgiveness. And the only way to earn that is to be honest, remorseful, and not make it about myself.
Good thing that will never happen. I love you so much, Dash!
