This is more of a one-click manager that you can install / run the other backends though. Easiest by far. Recommended to download Forge through it and use its built-in Civitai browser to download models with.

For models not through the in-built downloader just download and drop them in Stability_Matrix\Data\Models\* (lora folder if a lora, TextualInversion if embedding, stablediffusion if checkpoint...)

Illustrious can’t do show style, even with loras it’s uncanny and they all seem to be trained on ponies only so when I try to get some other creature they all turn into ponies with taped on features.

Pony can make ponies, kirin, changelings, griffons, dragons, hippogriffs, and it can do a lot of other things very very well and it will look like a screencap (although not show accurate in design, it will design a sheep or goat like a pony, and most other creatures)

i find that anatomically, with that show lora at least, illustrious is better too. with exception of bits, which pony is still better for. there are illustrious loras for crotchteats, horse pussy, etc which in some ways are preferable but there isn't that native support. you pretty much have to use something like;

still trying to get a good workflow to convert my drawings to more realistic, i went a bit too far in img2img and lost a lot of the hair color. can't get it to recognize my nose shape without changing it drastically, i probably need to use one of the controlnet settings but i'm still learning those
