Same. I also wasn't that much of a fan of the high school setting but I still liked how they potrayed the mane 6 in EQG and i loved the new characters like Sunset and the Sirens. I remember when they were hinting at Sci-Twi in the first two movies and I was overcome with joy when she showed up in Rainbow Rocks post credits and then fully appeared in the next movie. People in this board might lol at this but I was a dumb kid anyway and I loved MLP like crazy it didn't matter if they were barbies or not for me it was just more of my favorite characters.
Speaking of dumb kid shit, in EQG the only way to get transported into Equestria was through the crystal mirror. I had a mirror in my bedroom, so sometime at night I touched it in the hopes that my hand would go through. Of course I even kept up with moon cycles to get 'better odds' (whatever the fuck that means) at getting isekai'd into Equestria. Surprisingly it wasn't the only time I did stupid shit like that there used to be some Italian cartoon about dogs/pets whatever and one of the plot point was that the main character could get transported into that world with the use of a heart shaped bracelet. Now, I did not give a shit about it one bit but during the holidays season TV would just love to spam toy ads at you so that you'd pester your parents about buying their shit and dog show had one. I remember the main selling point of the commercial being that if you wore the bracelet and did the gay handwave you would be isekai'd into bright colorful woofworld so being young and impressionable I told my parents to buy it. I hyped the fuck out of it for like one or two months and that might not seem like a lot but for a kid that feels like forever. When I finally got it for christmas I didn't even care about the stupid fucking mutt it came with I immediately took the bracelet and expected something to happen. You can only imagine a glimpse of my disappointement, but then looking back on it I was old enough to know better. I don't have the name of the cartoon I don't think it was very good though. this specific thread reminded me of it for some reason.
Anyway I haven't watched MLP past Season 4 and Friendship Games. I did try watching Season 5 when it came out but it felt different so I dropped the show yet I'm feeling like giving it another chance. Is it worth it? I don't browse this board a lot to know the consensus
