I'm completely checked out of modern rap aside from like Suicideboys, Ghostemane, and that kind of shit. I'm a bigger metal/punk/blues guy and have kind of completely lost where rap is nowadays. What should I listen to to get caught up? Preferably shit from this year or last year

Not exactly your style but I can assure you, it's much better than those Bone Thugs wannabes.

McKinnley Dickison (I can't spell) dropped a new album recently, it's pretty good if you're into jazzier stuff. Billy Woods also released a new album, which I think is the best rap album of the year so far. I didn't like this other album, egotrip by John Michel, but people online seem to love it, so you might wanna check it out. Little Simz, MIKE, Saba, and clipping have all also released stuff.

This is actually pretty sick. I remember trying Aesop Rock with his album with the like tortoise skeleton on the cover and I just couldn't get into it. I think I don't really like the dude's voice that much, it doesn't really help me hear the complexity of his rhymes and lyrics. It can get kind of muddled with the beats (which aren't great, but it's okay given how good of a lyricist he is)

"I Am Music" is the most self centered album name for an artist I've never heard of. Why do these artists beats all sound the fucking same. And why the horrible autotune raps all the time. How can you tell the difference between these songs if they all sound the same, have the same cadence, have the same beats, etc
