Like…actually? I feel like everyone listens to way more music than me. I can go weeks or longer without doing so. There is too much music that exists and I get overwhelmed by it. I’ll try and sit down and listen to a band or a genre or whatever, but eventually I’ll just get discouraged or bored or I’ll just stop for some reason and then it’s back to not listening to much of anything for who knows how long. Maybe my brain is just fried from social media I dunno. Idk how to relate to other people when they talk about music. I feel like there is a part of my soul or humanity missing.

>There is too much music that exists and I get overwhelmed by it
You're thinking way too much about it, none of us will ever hear all the music we could possibly like. You have a dumb completionist mindset that really doesn't work in this medium

>Maybe my brain is just fried from social media I dunno
Yeah probably. I waste too much time on social media too, but mainly because it's the best mindless activity while listening to tunes. Why don't you do that too?
Though the rest of your post tells me you don't really care about music at all, and you're trying to make yourself like it to relate to others. So you probably shouldn't bother

>You have a dumb completionist mindset
it’s not really a completionist thing. There are just so many bands artists and genres that I don’t really even know how to begin finding ones I like or like.
>Though the rest of your post tells me you don't really care about music at all,
I don’t not like music, but at the same time it’s hard for me to just decide to put something on…idk, maybe I should listen to the radio or something and then the choice doesn’t fall to me.
>and you're trying to make yourself like it to relate to others.
is it so wrong to want to relate to others?

Well it's pretty easy.
>Bring up your physical media, download, or streaming service of choice
>Press play
And if it's just a matter of what to listen to, just pick at random. That's what I do.

Like I said, you are overthinking it, overwhelming yourself with the amount of music out there, and subsequently you feel unable to decide on anything. Just listen to what you're already familiar with and go from there, it really isn't hard anon
>I don’t not like music, but at the same time it’s hard for me to just decide to put something on
Do you realise you are contradicting yourself? If you actually like music you wouldn't have any trouble putting something on
>is it so wrong to want to relate to others?
No, but forcing yourself to like something you don't really care for is a waste of time. There are many other things you could talk about to relate with other people

Listen to music at all times and go out of my way to play at least 3 songs I've never heard before every day which I get from Spotify playlists, friends, and mew. Also listen to 2 albums a week.

When you sit down, close your eyes and listen to an album you actually realize that most music is boring as fuck and only serves as background noise.
Listen to music that challenges you. Musique concrete, field recordings, free improvisation, minimal techno, etc is way more interesting than most basic ass rock and pop

If you don't know "how" to listen to music, you lack agency, probably you lost your soul years and years ago to SSRIs, so you should just not listen to music. You really shouldn't do most things.

The reason is lack of enjoyment really. Your brain is definitely fried and it makes you squirm to think of sitting and listening to music and doing nothing else, am I right? And then it won't be enjoyable because your anxiousness will overpower any enjoyment you could have from it. And it's not just overstimulation, you're probably just in an ambiently bad headspace. I can't tell you how to fix it but if you do you'll soon remember enjoying music like you used to again

Just sit down, put on an album and do something else while it plays in the background.
Just listen to shit that sounds nice to you.
Alternatively just let autoplay or some shit do the work for you and add songs you like to a playlist.

listen to lots of stuff in the background while doing something else. when you find something with potential you set it aside and only listen to it when you can give it more attention. anything that has a good steady beat i willl put on while gaming, if its whatever but somewhat enjoyable il just wear it out while gaming, if its S+ tier stuff il put it on then listen to it once per day while relaxing in bed until i feel like it needs a break

maybe just get into movies instead, they're a lot more captivating and you can still bring it up in most music conversation since they're so closely tied. Also soundtracks can be a good sample platter for discovering artists you might actually like

I sit down, plop on some headphones or put on a record, and hit play. It's that simple. Not everyone likes music though, and that's ok. If you don't like it, why listen? Maybe look into musical anhedonia.

Through qobuz, but they suffered a data breach and the recent qobuz connect launch has removed the ability to manage logged in devices, so even after changing my password I still can't lock the other party off. So I set up a playlist with amon amarth, Nipsey Hussle, and a poorly uploaded pirate copy of Erika on repeat and forced it to play on the offending device
