Yesterday he posted a short where Hans Zimmer tells him God Only Knows is a perfect song. I guess that was his acknowledgement.

Yeah, literally the only mentions of the Beach Boys/Pet Sounds that I've seen on Beato's channel comes from people he's interviewing kek. He clearly doesn't like them.

Rick Beato is the type of boomer who only listens daddy rock. The Beatles and Pink Floyd are by far the most patrician bands he has ever listened to. The Beach Boys are too far from his range.

Because he's a Foo Fighters looking motherfucker with terrible taste. Not that you would have terrible taste if you listened to The Beach Boys, though. They made actual music, not the slop he likes.

oh man this thread is so refreshing to see. for years i've been shitting on rick in the comments of his videos for never mentioning BW/BBs. it's just the fact that his whole persona is based around "this music today sucks it used to be better" but he betrays that he's just a dumbass rockist boomer by never talking about them because they're not a "cool rock band"

Anyone that works or has worked in a professional recording studio since at the very least the 90s (but more like the 80s), either as an engineer, producer, session player, name it, probably even the janitor at the studio, has the worst taste in music on the planet. Beato is just the modern version of the music reviewer, which apparently has been outsourced into the previous generation's professionals. All music reviewers will be executed one day.

Been a huge BB nerd for 20 years. I finally listened to Steely Danโ€™s first album to see what all the hype was about, only to find out that they wrote a bunch of classic rock radio staples that I knew but just didnโ€™t know who performed them. Without any prior context they just got filed away under boring boomer shit in my brain and I canโ€™t really get into them.

because those, like many other boomer shit bands, LOVE to sue and strike the shit out of anything that even mentions a sillable of their names let alone their songs. These retards are still living in the past where record sales brought home the bacon and have never mentally recovered from online piracy and bootles casettes. So fuck them and Rick is doing god's work in helping the next generation forget about those soon-to-be has-beens.

because he's literally a pop producer and his only records that have had any success are pop schlock such as his platinum record with parmalee.
It's just that he has a chip on his shoulder because he's such an obnoxious theory fag who wishes he could have made some music that might be special like all the songs he so jealously dissects, but he's a pop buttrock/country producer and this will never change.

i've always hated this guy, but honestly good for him for making brian comfortable and being actually interested. i just wish someone who understood music itself had been able to ask brian some real questions about actually writing music. you know, the thing no one ever cared or thought to ask? because people barely notice music, and only as a vague kind of attitude supporting the lyrics? if i met him i'd be like "so in 'all summer long', you start by going I to bIII. how did you think of doing that? was there a song you knew with that change in it? did you worry that it might be a bit jarring for the listener at first?" etc. i'd have 50 questions about specific things like that. "what were you going for in 'surf's up' when the first section (in F) ends and you abruptly start the next section on the Ab6 chord? it's such a beautiful effect" and so on. man it would have been so great. maybe he'll visit me in my dreams. "how did you think about key changes? no one ever did it so often, and so smoothly, like you don't even notice it happened" ah well

rick has done videos about songs by anyone you can think of, including the beatles many times. he'll play them on guitar and talk about what's going on. there's no reason he couldn't have broken down 50 of brian's songs to everyone's great benefit
