>>126702049 (OP) Why is it so much better than anything else they did, tho? Every song on Murmur is beyond excellent but nothing quite comes close to Murmur and if anything it just kept getting worse.
>>126705775 I'm OP and I never saw a critic recommending it or talking about it because I don't follow critics or music magazines, I listened to it out of my own interest for the band, and I'm "sperging out" simply bc I feel very passionate about music, something a lowly animal like you can't even begin to conceive, you need to stop projecting
>>126705925 >Highest rated REM album RYM >Second Highest Rated on AOTY >Deluxe edition gets a 10 on p4k >165 out of Rolling Stones top 500 albums ever >Hurr durr I've never seen a critic like this album
>>126705273 it's the only one where every song is good

>>126705939 do you have any idea how pathetic and retarded you sound? Yes, I don't care what critics say about it, I didn't listen to it because it was highly rated, I thought automatic for the people was the one "critics" loved, I don't use those websites
Life's Rich Pageant is R.E.M's best album, and it's also the best alternative rock album ever made. Murmur is really good though. My favorites are Laughing and Sitting Still, but specifically this version of Sitting Still, where michael gives a vocal take that makes you feel like he's going to die on the spot if he isn't able to get this song out. what a great band damn
>>126707575 >>126708380 >my favorite REM song is extremely overplayed REM song that a lot of people that know nothing about REM or music in general would also say is their favorite REM song
what drove you to post this? seriously, why do dumb people think they are entitled to speak on matters they know nothing of?
>>126710335 I don't believe you really like anything

>>126702049 (OP) I think Murmur is both too long and too self-similar. Radio Free really sets you up nicely, but as you reach the 20 minute mark it becomes very tedious. The affect changes not at all throughout. If the album were around 30 minutes, I think it would have been something special.
>>126710407 you do understand albums are how long you want them to be right? listen to some of the songs then the rest later, no one told you to listen to all of them in a row
>>126704888 >I don't know who else was doing the pastoral songs How about an album that is almost called Murmur https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZBkCxvX9og
