There's just no incentive to be a rockstar anymore, the money is gone (rise of streaming), the clout is gone (young people think being in a band is ''cringe''), even the bitches are gone (people will look at you weird if you have consensual sex with an 18 yr old). This is going to sound weird, but I think a lot of would be rock n roll energy is problably going into indie video game development right now. It's the one artistic endeavour that a group of young guys can do together and become incredibly rich off of, and across all youth oriented media, video games have the most energy at the moment. Meanwhile, there will be a handful of eccentrics around the world keeping the torch of rock n roll alive through sheer passion. But these highly nerdy art guys will never be rich and famous. Also they know that and will do it anyway.

Over time people realized the rockstar life isn't what it was made out to be, at least not in most cases. You'd grow up to be a drunk fat stoner with greasy hair who never got married and who everyone rips on in the line at McDonalds reminiscing about the "glory days" when you were just sitting around doing nothing but drugs. Ironically today the young people that are into rock are usually quiet educated types who have their life in order not punks who have fun and take risks in life, and it reflects on their music

I think it's social media(again, nerd shit). There's this weird duality between extreme oversexualization(OF, Tinder, porn, etc) and this kind of feminist/busybody/snitch culture that enforces a kind of puritanism through fear of being publicly exposed and shamed for something that should be private(sex).
