Oasis. Holds a vowel on one note sustained while strumming over a chord or two. They did this in their hook over and over and fucking over.

Their melodic phrases were reused over and over too.

could also just mention that several songs reuse the exact same chords, which is the worst offense i think you can do when writing songs
i get that there's limited notes and progressions but fuck man, avoid that

Maybe it's one of those situations where "you had to be there when it was happening", but Led Zeppelin, Sabbath, cream, Hendrix were all before my time too, and yet I still loved them immediately. The Ramones however, have always been just meh to me.
I can see how kids don't get Nirvanna but (you had to be there at the time...kinda).

While I like quite a few Meshuggah songs a lot, I agree, that their albums just blend sonically together. If you want a song of theirs that's different, check out this one:

It's from a compilation album. And it's not djent like their usual stuff, but technical thrash metal. Yeah, the drums are programmed, but it's still sick.
