Hard to say. I've listened to hundreds of black metal albums, and none of them sounded like Filosofem. If you want to get the gist of the genre, then I'd probably recommend something like "A Blaze in the Northern Sky" by Darkthrone (even though I'm not the biggest fan of that record myself), simply because it illustrates the kind of sound that people have in mind when they talk about black metal, and which is generally associated with the second wave. If you want something earlier from the first wave, that's a bit less its own thing and closer to thrash and speed metal, then can't go wrong with Bathory's self-titled debut. If you want to try something that's perhaps more accessible, then check out "At the Heart of Winter" by Immortal, "Blood Fire Death" by Bathory, or "Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk" by Emperor. All the albums I mentioned are classics, so even if you don't like them, you'll get a better picture of a fraction of the best quality black metal that's out there.

The song "Curse You All Men!" by Emperor is a pretty good intro to the genre if you already like regular metal. I'm not a huge BM fan, but Emperor are fucking great.

It's true. I love the record, but it was made specifically in a way to break the black metal conventions present at the time.

random recs from a black metal-loving anon:
>Taake - Over Bjoergvin graater himmerik
A pretty aggressive, arguably 'thrashy' take on the genre, from one of the greats.
>Aosoth - Aosoth and The Inside Scriptures
First one is same idea but even more slayer-ish. The latter is a gem in the dissonant black metal niche.
>Acherontas - Amarta (Reptilian Unification Part II)
Just an all around solid album from Greece. One of my favorites.
>Kataxu - Hunger of Elements
Excellent symphonic black. Immortal is the originator of this style, but this to me is like a somewhat more modern-sounding take on it. Insane from the very first track.
>Drowning the Light - Conquer or Serve I: From Primordial Waters of Chaos
Pretty new release. Comfy af melodic black metal in a series of 5 albums all released this year.
>Drudkh - Autumn Aurora
Speaking of comfy, this is an essential pick in that category. Atmospheric and beautiful Ukranian BM
>Nokturnal Mortum - Lunar Poetry and Voice of Steel
Speaking of Ukranian, these guys are some of the best in that category. Lunar Poetry is one of the best black metal demos released, and Voice of Steel is a good example for Folk-Black.

Behemoth has been making (blackened) death metal since 1999. And that's also what they're the most known for (albums like Demigod and The Satanist). Their early black metal stuff is fairly generic and uninteresting.

I would actually not recommend that you listen to "classic" records if you are an absolute beginner, because they have shitty production and repetitive song structures that would be off-putting to new listeners. Most of the albums included in this list are from established acts, but with more developed sounds, so eventually I would say to visit their earlier works just so you can be familiar with those records. >>126733353 may also be good. The records by established acts are for the most part "modern classics".
