Ok /gg/uys, imagine Fiesta Red. If you could choose, would you get a black pickguard or white?
>>126736014Definitely white.
>>126736014its gotta be white black seems too eggy

>>126736103that squire looks cute
did they change anything with the new models? because they don't look cute anymore, they look like toys
I'm bricked up but I can't cum
>>126735936 (OP)Found an older gibson I wanted a suspiciously good price but... it has a partial neck break. It was repaired okay going off of the photos.
Is it still a cop or something to stay the hell away from. I've seen a couple 57-60s in videos with headstock break repairs that seem to be chugging fwiw
>>126736322>just replace the neck>oh it's a gibson not a fender>bad luck bro
>>126736190I donโt know, I specifically wanted one of the Vista series ones and not one of the newer Squier ones of the batch of Fender ones just cuz I like how Japanese Fender necks feel
>>126736322I wouldnโt touch it unless I knew exactly who repaired it and could see some references of his work. If itโs repaired by a guy who knows what heโs doing then I wouldnโt mind if itโs priced accordingly, if itโs repaired by a literal who Joe Schmoe in his garage then no way
>>126736363have you got any idea if Japanese Fenders are on par with American made ones?
>>126736399Checked
What if I crack it again like it's a crawfish head and have a luthier redo it instead
>>126736457Assuming they used wood glue you're more likely to cause a new break than to separate the already broken parts.
>>126736322I fw headstock breaks. The world of repairing crap is a lot more difficult than that. You'll have to fuss with the fill and finish if you're chasing collector value. If it's like 20-30 year old, just fill it with something that looks cool like Japanese kintsugi pottery.
>>126736322if it plays ok thats just added characte
>>126736400Iโd say yes absolutely other than their electronics. They use cheap pots, cheap wiring, and depending on the model the pickups can be decent or cheap. I donโt think itโs an entirely necessary upgrade to replace the electronics as the factory ones are mostly โgood enoughโ but it is definitely an upgrade and the first thing Iโd do if I had one I really liked and wanted to keep. With Japanese Fenders generally the older the better, theyโve cheaped out more over the years but that doesnโt mean newer ones are bad at all, just better candidates to gut the electronics. Japanese Fenders also use a lot of basswood bodies which turns some people off because itโs a softer wood and will ding easier but thatโs something I genuinely donโt even think about or care
>>126736457I mean if you really want to pay someone reputable to do it right go for it. Iโd prefer some milled out wood and splints glued in like these rather than just glueing it and clamping it but thatโs probably just because Iโd be paranoid
>>126736457kingfish energy
>>126736561this ngl prebreaking his authentic gibson
>>126736561thank you very much for the insight
I don't mind replacing electronics
>Japanese Fenders also use a lot of basswood bodies which turns some people offsounds cool, I ain't about furniture even though I love 2010's Dell high end laptops because they look like furniture lol
>I've stayed up all night laboriously mulling over your inquiry regarding the repaired gibbon, Niles, and i concluded youre a broke boy whos greed will get the best of them
>15 minutes into practice and my cat is throwing a tantrum because he is jealous of the guitar

I have this loud, annoying crackling in my daw whenever I play guitar that started appearing recently. Yesterday I tried changing the sampling rate from 44.1k to 48k and the crackling pretty much disappeared but then I got no audio from chrome. And I checked the sample rate on my pc and it said 48k also so I have no idea what the fuck is going on.

>>126738849I don't use rocksmith though. Really have no idea where it even came from, a month ago it was fine and now I can't touch it without crackling. I didn't change any settings either.
>>126738912Sure it's not one of your cables going out?
>>126738911I've had better luck on fucking Craigslist
>>126738932Nope, all connected. My guess is it's the sample rate cause changing it fixed the crackling but I don't know what to about non daw audio being silent.
What chord is this?
I have my guitar tuned in all fourths, and I accidentally played this (Standard tuning in pic, but the same notes)
I'm scratching my head as to what the fuck this chord could be. It sounds nice, I just can't figure out what to call it.
>>126739110update/rollack audio drivers? Fuck knows could be anything by the sounds of it
>>126737340Fiesta red is purely a fender thing, most likely a strat, other brands don't really use that name even if the color is similar/same
>>126738609Restart your computer.
Unplug the interface and plug it back in.
Make sure no other programs are using your sound when you change the sample rate.
>>126738486Depending where are you located, here's an interesting guitar you might like instead:
https://gypsyguitar.de/guitars/aria/12378/aria-ta-tr1
>>126738609All guitars do this?
All DAWs do this?
All ports on the audio interface do this?
It's not the sample rate. Also you're not supposed to have other software running in the background. It's your guitar/DAW only and nothing else.
Discord wants access to your sound cards, Chrome probably wants access to your sound cards, I know Steam has its own sound card to avoid such an issue. Discord for instance doesn't interfere with your DAW or music software but if you open Discord while it's running it immediatly asks you if you want to connect your input card to Discord. Pretty sure then Chrome is misbehaving, it's not too late to shift to a Firefox fork of your liking.
>>126739282>https://gypsyguitar.de/guitars/aria/12378/aria-ta-tr1I looked at the pictures and there are pictures listed from two guitars, one has a white line around the f-holes and the other doesn't. Before purchasing I'd contact the shop to ask speficially what kind of guitar they actually selling atm
Boomers are actually pieces of shit when it comes to pricing guitar stuff. Sometimes i see even MIMs reaching $2000 levels if it's even remotely rare or limited...and no one's buying. They remain listed.
>>126739575And then other boomers and pawn shops copy said pricing and we never have nice things again
>>126739575Stop shopping for boomer guitars and you won't have this issue
I got bored of this boomer instrument and got a keyboard
>>126739646Not buying guitars from cultures who don't even listen to guitar music.
>>126739201I hope I don't gotta do that, sounds hella annoying.
>>126739246I'll try that when I get home. I didn't even think of that.
>>126739295Haven't tried with other guitars but I imagine it'd be the same, and I only use one daw. Thing is I've been playing along to yt in chrome the whole time since I started using it and I've had the crackling thing happen a few times but eventually it's always gone. Even now it only started appearing recently.
>>126739248Thanks. Makes sense. I thought it was sus4 with something added but couldn't figure it out. Still learning.
Going to my 3rd lesson today and I'm still not sure what exactly sure what I should be asking this guy to show me or what I'm supposed to be learning. Maybe because it's only 30 minutes but I definitely feel I need to come up with a solid goal to work towards. I guess I'll ask for shapes or work on chords with him.
>>126740042I'd switch a teacher
I've given a few lessons myself and I always did 1.5 hour minimum. If the pupil wanted then two hours for the same price.
With 30 minutes you can barely sit down
>>126740042If you're an absolute beginner I'd recommend looking at Scotty West's Absolutely Understand Guitar course on YouTube because it's real theory heavy. It'll help you to know what you don't know, so you can then ask questions to fill in the gaps.
Stuff like shapes and chords are just rote memorization at your stage, and you can really just go off a chart online. The biggest help you'll get from a real life lesson is more personalized instruction like advice on technique, rhythm, ear training, etc.
I'll also mirror what the other anon said. 30 minutes just isn't long enough to properly convey much of anything especially if that's only once a week.
>>126740071>>126740098Im a bass player but I'll look into a longer session. I also felt the same way. 30 minutes just feels like barely enough time to scratch the surface. We've had good conversations that have led to me learning new things but as soon as the ball gets rolling my time is up. I pretty much understood after my 2nd lesson that I really needed to find something solid to work on cause everything he's showing me now, Im in the processing of learning already.

>>126745288personally i like putting quality parts on my musical instruments.
>>126745300So far nothing really, they might go bad in a few years but nothing some lubing can't fix
90% of the crap the US buys is chinese, but guitarists want to pay extra for assembled in US of A.
>>126745288How are they?
>>126745443Nothing is really wrong with them so far they look good, feel smooth and hold tune fine (tuning problems rarely stem from tuners anyway), the locking mechanism while being convinient isn't a huge improvement like I thought, I could survive with either
>>126745288Don't like locking tuners in general regardless of country
>>126745443>90% of the crap the US buys is chinese, but guitarists want to pay extra for assembled in US of A.I'm open to a lot of places personally. Just not China, if I can help it. A Marshall Origin I got recently is the Vietnam made. I just don't like China specifically. Also, one thing to look out for if you're going with China is if the company actually has some control or staff in China itself. That it's not some shit outsourced to Cort or one of the other big slave labor outfits. That goes for a lot of products. They just outsource a lot of shit and China just cranks them out according to basic plans. But Marshall actually owns their factory in Vietnam. PRS actually owns their factory in Indonesia. In China, only the biggest big wigs tend to have some control, like Apple - and even then, they don't. Foxconn makes their phones, and when the recent tariffs required Apple to start rethinking their manufacturing and moving to India, China tried to block their own products from being moved out. That's some freaky shit where one of the most powerful American companies is held hostage by a foreign State.
>>126745122>Modulation, Delay, Reverb, etc are all digital anywayNo.
Please learn what your talking about instead of spreading misinformation in an attempt to sound smart. Nobody even knows who you are bro, why do this?
>>126744958looks much better than the originals yet like that other anon said if you make all of them like that it will be too much
maybe let one be with the collar and the rest without the collar
>>126745122You're not limited to dsp/cpu power with old fashioned pedals. You're just limited by power outlets. The more effects you have running at once in a digital unit, the more processing power it takes. There's usually some hard coded block from preventing too much at once. Others will throttle your effects. Amp models especially eat up cpu resources, so running one of those + effects doesn't leave room for much without throttling. It's the main reason those high end units like AxeFX or Fender cost so much. Or you're better off doing digital in a full blown computer with massive processing power...but then that's shit for gigging unless you want to look like a retarded nerd.
>>126745288Guyker has let me down many times. Just save up and get good tuners they make a difference
>>126745786Well it's just my old side guitar that I rarely play anyway, the only reason I even gave it new tuners was because the old ones were rusty to the point of unusable

>>126746001what will a heavier pick do that a tortex flow or jazz pick can't, keeping in mind you can have sweet, sweeping strums with the heavier picks.
Celluloid or fingers, tortex is for faggots.
>>126746017I just mean if you're articulating correctly and not using half the broad side of the pick for MAXUMUM ATTTAACCCKKK you wont feel like you're going to rip strings out.
I'm embarrassed to say I paid $20 for a Martin Pick. It's pretty good though. They're made out of the same hardcore plastic used on speedboats for some parts.
>>126746073I almost spent $15 on a gravity pick but I am a mere mortal

>>126746115I don't know, never used Blue Chips. It's Torlon. From what I can tell, it's the most durable plastic. So it's usually used in high performance or industrial shit that needs it more than a damn guitar.
>>126746166cool fretboard
>thumb over neckngmi
>>126746185NTA and I didn't watch the video but this isn't classical guitar mate, thumb over neck allows you to choke in for better vibrato
>>126746166This guys videos look cool and he has a bunch of really nice guitars I will admit, but his music is the most boring overused blooz shit imaginable
>>126746208It limits your range of motion and does nothing to provide stability, learn bio-mechanics.
The only time its acceptable is if you are fretting a note with it, otherwise thumb goes behind the middle finger always.
>>126745020I know this is the truth, but I like to larp that one day I'll play live, so I collect pedals. My most recent was a $300 compressor pedal that I probably will never use.
>>126746221You spent $300 on a pedal that doesn't do anything?
Wowowow I need to get into the pedal market.
You know that an overdrive with no gain does the same thing as a compressor right?
>>126746219>learn bio-mechanics.Not her, but I am now depressed that my hands are only average size. I don't care about shredding, I just want to be able to play big weird chords.
>>126746219>learn bio-mechanicslel
>>126746219You do realize you can switch grips depending on situation right? If I'm doing stuff that relies on a lot of vibrato or really strangled notes, thumb over neck is preferable. It takes less than a milisecond to move the thumb down behind the neck for scales or barre shapes.
stop mimicking youtube and learn how to play a fucking guitar before you insult people you absolute fraud
>>126746240The o.g. Fulltone OCD is my favorite pedal and I feel like it is all I need, but I keep buy things anyway. Sometimes they have pretty art.
>>126746105based /x/ lurker
>>126746260You're really dumb. If your baby fingers can't vibrato you add another finger to the string you simpleton, this isn't some Youtube shit, this is bio-mechanics. Thumb over neck only feels better because you've trained yourself to make it seem that way, I vibrato with no issue at all with my thumb on the back of the neck.
i live in a water city similar to venice and drive a speedboat. it's not legal but the cops can't do shit because my boat is so god damn fast

>>126746289>dunning-kruger spergI'm glad you took a lesson once. big boy props for you champ.
>>126746302oh its you, you really like that phrase.
Please play the riff to mississipi queen with thumb over neck.
Guys my picks have given me microplastic exposure, is it over?
>>126746323buddy theres micro plastics everywhere, the clouds themself have them, its kinda fucked regardless of what you do
>>126746323Yup, you're gay now. Have fun playing with your thumb on the back of the neck.
>>126746315Not your boogeyman faggot. And what did I just say about the ability to move the thumb?
Watch any blues lead player, the thumb is over the neck for choking into vibrato. everyone has different vibrato techniques but immediately insulting people for putting their thumb over the neck is invalid at best.
and if you hear the phrase dunning-kruger often, maybe it should tell you something.
>>126746323Should have bought the Torlon pick. Guaranteed to not shed the microplastics.

335's are better than Les Pauls
the bigger body might seem like a hindrance but they are much nicer to play seated, and because of the hollow wings they are lighter weight.
They also don't bear the name and signature of another man. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not gay, and I'm certainly not a fan of some Jewish guy from 1950's sped up alvin and the chipmunk fake playing

If I was a Mexican and wanted a Classical guitar, I'd probably go to Paracho and buy a guitar there. Everyone and their mom in that town is involved in guitar making somehow. And it'll probably have more soul than the Chinese big brand import you ordered from guitarcenter.com .

>>126745288anything that touches the strings actually creates a difference in tone. My suggestion is to invest in good hardware and ignore the woods/bodies if you want to safe. Don't buy le Mahogany and Swamp Ash body only to put chinesium tuners on them, your instrument WILL suck. Rather invest 80 bucks into proper tuners that will hold tune and let your strings swing properply, same with the bridge and frets. Anything else apart from maybe electronics is pure marketing to get schmucks to pay premium for toan wooooods.
>>126747150>It's good thing to support your own country wherever you are as much as you can*he said as his country invited another million illegals in to lower wages even more and give (((landlords))) more oportunities to exploit their power via having 20 people live and pay inside a two bedroom apartment*
fuck that, the west deserves to be taken over by China and its cronies.
>>126747150>It's good thing to support your own country wherever you are as much as you canMy country is actively trying to make my life as hard as possible for being a straight white male, as far as I'm concerned China and its cronies can gladly take it over.
