>>126737165 (OP) It's not really controversial. Everyone knows its purpose was merely to shock people and get everyone to talk about him. Basically like pretty much everything Kanye's been doing since Katrina. There's nothing to debate and barely anything to disagree about. Something like WAP, which some praised and some hated, was way more controversial, even though it was much less extreme.
Probably this one. Was used in a nationwide ad campaign for Pepsi with heavy rotation. Madonna was paid 5 million dollars for the Ad. The commercial aired the first the day before the music video for the song was released. Estimates are it was viewed by 250 million people world wide. There was a huge outcry from Christian groups including the Pope about the heresy in the music video and a boycott on Pepsi and it's subsidiaries was called for. Pepsi caved and removed the AD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vPVPTKIVaQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79fzeNUqQbQ
What's funny is if these hard ass niggas were to perform live, not a single leftist would ave the balls to stop them, because all white leftists ironically are scared of darkies

>>126737165 (OP) There are songs that are WAY more controversial in their content, but I don't think anything comparable has been released by a popular mainstream artist. But you also have to take into account the fact that Kanye had already been seen as an extremist by the public, which coupled with the fact that his recent outputs have been of poor quality (leading to a decrease in relevance), tempered the kind of reaction people had to it. I think there might have been some songs accused of being blasphemous (so not really as controversial in content from today's perspective), which prompted massive backlash by institutions like the Catholic church, which in effect were probably more controversial.
