Right now I'd go for the Sire 7 series any day of the week. Yamaha just isn't competing with the modern electrics in that price range, not even close, and the good modern model Yamahas are above $1k anyway. Staggered locking tuners, no stringtrees, sculpted heel, bone/graphite nut/saddles, trem that stays in tune, is a must have for a guitar nowadays. If you can get all this for $400 why go for a near 2 decade old Yamaha model that has none of this, but costs the same? That would be fucking retarded.

i pretty much do this. i had yamaha motorcycles, have yamaha synths, a yamaha flute. if you ever need gear there's a good chance that yamaha made a great cheap option in the 1980s.

is taking the gearpill even worth it? every time I get a new piece of equipment I spend more time tweaking it than actually playing, and I'm never quite 100% satisfied with the output, or usually I'll think it sounds great one day and shitty the next and go back to autistically tweaking the settings

Got the Shure srh440a yesterday after using Focusrite hp60 mk3 for a few years now. Shures sound louder but also much more "empty" like when you play an amp sim without the cab. Soundwise I'll have to get used to it but I don't really have any complaints. In terms of comfort, they seem pretty good. Fell asleep with them on and didn't wake up with my ears hurting unlike with the focusrites. I'll have to wear them in a little I think but no complaints there. One thing I am disappointed about is the sound blocking from the outside. With the focusrites, I'd only ever hear the guitar strings while leaning my head down but with shures I hear them all the time, even with the volume up.

I used to play guitar a lot with two friends who were brother and sister and they capo everything, everything they do is C G D Em and Am and just stick a capo on it to make it that, so I’ll transpose it to open so I can play with them then between practice and the actual gig they’d go “let’s move the capo up/down so it’s a little easier for me to sing” and then I have to like mentally tweak it all in my head right before we play on stage and it fucking sucks. I hate playing with capo queens, for open tunings or playing on your own it’s fine but how about instead of paying at capo 7 so you can play in D playing your G C E Em Am cowboy chords you just learn the fretboard or at the very least just play the song the same every time instead of changing the capo every other time you play it forcing everyone else to adapt to your slight key change.

Pick me vocalists that show up to the gig and decide they’re going to change the key at the last second because their voice sucks that night or people that refuse to drop tuning and want to rearrange everything to a different key. Like oh this song is in e flat let’s just throw a capo on there and transcribe everything instead of either singing higher, using a polyphonic pitch pedal, or having a guitar tuned for the song. It really fucks the bassist because they have to rearrange everything as well as acoustic pianists. It fucks everyone. All so some pick me vocalist can play in whatever key they feel like that day.

True. Revstars and inspired by Gibson custom shop epiphones are where it’s at right now. All the new fenders suck. I’d rather buy an old MIM fender for 500 and throw some custom shop pickups in it than spend 900+ on some piece of shit player model. You can find American fenders used for under 1000 anyway. The pickups aren’t as good as custom shop say nocasters for example but it’s a way better guitar than a player or player 2. Those things are junk.

That’s because SEA is currently producing better guitars than America. The only thing they can’t compete with is the finishes and electronics which they’re intentionally cucked on to make the USA models seem superior and worth 4x the cost. The fender USA corona facility is all staffed by third worlders anyway. They just intentionally put shit electronics / goofy names / headstocks on them to make people want the USA versions more. That’s why I said inspired by gibsons are better than actual gibsons because the chinks care more about quality control than conseula and latiqua in the Nashville plant do. As long as you are getting the same USA pickups and electronics there’s no reason to buy a USA guitar.

I forgot which youtube guy but someone found actual fender wide-ranges and put them ont he squier CV starcaster and he said it didn't make it sound too much better which surprised me.
The rumour also is though that the squier CVs are old new stock fender player starcasters they couldn't sell back in the day so those got re-stenciled to say squier and fender switched to only doing tom delonge starcasters (which also suck apparently).

I’m not specifically talking about squire. They use different woods and manufacturing processes. They’re not the same dimensions as Mexican or USA fenders. What I’m talking about are guitars that are made with the same woods and specs as their US counterparts.
