That level of addiction doesn't come out of the blue. it's a long process of becoming more and more dependent

Who knows what amount was normal for him on a daily basis.

He couldn't have stopped at 38 he had to have 40.

Honestly that seems like a kind of small amount to kill you drunk over a day

Not really. 21 shots is already quite dangerous so he basically went overkill

If you read some alcoholic testimonials they can be pretty nuts. Like waking up feeling like shit, throwing up, then chugging vodka, throwing up again into the cup, drinking the puke to avoid losing the alcohol, etc

I remember seeing a video I don't care to look up about this guy who only ate food two or three times a week, would have his grandpa drive him to the liquor store as soon as it opened and he would chug vodka in the car, throwing up the whole time. He had a limp that wouldn't heal because his body was barely functional. I was like thank fuck I'm not that bad!

My dad had a friend who opened up a bottle of scotch every morning. Kept up cold too, so it was like syrup. He'd drink it all day. And yeah, he died young too.
It's an addiction like any other, I guess.

You tend to build a tolerance once you abuse any particular substance. I was never much of a drinker and even then i needed 10-15 shots to get drunk. To him 40 might've been something like 20 to a regular bloke.

It doesn't help that hard drinkers forget what even being sober is. Or being drunk in general makes you lack self-awareness. Look at how many bodycams are out there of drunks saying they're drunk (and believing it), then proceed to cause all sorts of fucked up drama.

Zeppelin was infinitely better in every way except technical musicianship, which DP was on par with.
But, DP are boring af. Even Zeppelin's covers are better than anything DP does. I'd rather get DP'd irl than listen to another minute of DP music.

Daily drinking for prolonged periods of time also causes smooth brain. That's why in rehab there were alcoholics who started talking and trailed off completely forgetting what they were talking about ending up in a conversation with themselves.

It's pretty sad desu. Even drunks deserve some sympathy, even though they're also the biggest assholes among addicts. Or maybe gamblers are the worst, first.

Maybe, but I really doubt it. I had to play 5 DP songs in a cover band once and i hated it. Very difficult music to play though I'll admit. Great musicians. Just bad songwriters. I did like the instrumental song off taste the band, but er didnt play that, becasue the bands "didnt like any non-richie stuff"
I also loved Rainbow and Whitesnake, if that helps you.

Yeah, Rainbow is better. But DP had some jams. And more inclined to actually improv jam than Zep too.

Most heavy rock bands improvised back in the 60's-70's. It was just part of the deal. Cream, Zeppelin, Grand Funk, etc.

Page didn't improv as much. Even he admits himself Blackmore stood out for that. But I fully admit he was the more inventive songwriter and studio guy.

Page didn't just steal. Battle of Evermore? Totally original song (with the help of Plant). I only wish he played more into the English folk type stuff and not the blues.

Not talking about songs but about their playing. I agree with Ginger Baker that Bonham, while technically a great drummer, couldn't swing a sack of shit.

ginger was a great drummer, but he was a pretentious fucking snob that wouldnt even admit he was a rock musician. He had his nose so far up charlie parker's ass, he could smell the mouthpiece. Also, he was wrong about bonham and probably never even listen to zeppelin. it should have been ginger, not john that died so young.
