The older I become, the more I appreciate real country music
For a long time I rejected country music despite loving Cash and Willie as a kid. Now I've gotten tired of rap and other new music, and I am once again enamored by country. I think as a kid I loved outlaws, but as an adult I understand their pain.

Pre 90s "Young Country" is a gold mine. Before it got stuck in the Pickup/Beer anthems rut.

For me, it's partially because I've grown an appreciation for the guitar parts as a guitarist of almost 20yrs (I'm 32). I also grew up going down to GA from Illinois and always had to listen to old country in the summers. My Grandpa claimed his Dad gave Hank Williams his first guitar at an orphanage.

Nice one. Blood on the Track is probably my favourite Dylan album too. Give Self Portrait a go, I think you'll love the bucolic feel.

it dont seem like it to me, but i am from the deep south so there is probably more love for him here. If This is Just a Game helped me through a rough spot last year. Really liked this girl and she led me tf on. Gave me her number and agreed to get dinner then ghosted me. Turned out she already had a man...

>My Grandpa claimed his Dad gave Hank Williams his first guitar at an orphanage.
Every boomer in the South probably has some bullshit story like that.

>Yeah so my Uncle Buford, he taught Johnny Cash how to play guitar when he was 12; learned everything he knew from him in fact even though it's totally fictional and his uncle never met Cash and in fact never lived closer than 200 miles to him when the latter was a boy.

I don't think that's the problem with nu country, the problem began when George Strait invented that cliched country singing intonation everyone copied whereas they used to all sound unique.

>real country music

Anything from the 1900s isn't real country music. REAL country music is literally just hillbillies with banjos playing on the porch. What we call "country music" is COMPLETELY unrelated to what that term originally meant.

>Now I've gotten tired of rap and other new music, and I am once again enamored by country.
country music is just rap for white trash, you'll notice country singers never leave any space or break from singing, they just constantly sing through the entire long like rappers, because country really is white rap

I wonder what hardcore country fans think of Sturge. I mean the dude is undoubtedly very talented as an instrumentalist, singer and songwriter, but on the other hand he's a total libtard and also gets pretty deeply into prog territory.
