When will people admit that his vocals went down the drain after 2005? He sounds like someone else entirely. He's not recognizable at all. Musically he's still good but his vocals suck ass for the type of music NIN should be. He should have hired someone for screaming in the albums. The Slip would be great if it didn't have some of the worst vocals for the type of music he was making. Seriously I've never seen someone lose their distinct voice so hard. And no one calls this out. It's weird.
The reason why people feel NIN isn't the same isn't due to change of instrumentation it's purely due to how bad his vocals became. There's no ferocity in them at all starting with Year Zero, genuinely makes the music less impactful.

His voice being so deep really just seems whacky to me. It sounds really dumb to me and doesn't fit his music at all to me. It also sounds horrible live for majority of his material. He's a good musician and objectively on technical level he's probably a better signer now. But it just doesn't fit what he makes to me. I agree With Teeth is one of his best voices. It got stupidly deep after that. And then in Hesitation Marks onward it's not quite as deep but somehow sounds even worse.
