Who is the greatest post hardcore band of all time? For me, it's My Chemical Romance. In just a few albums, they mogged everyone, then just dropped the mic and left at legend status.
>>126774574 >>126775173 I want to give shoutouts to Blue Sky Noise and Violent Waves, though, because both of those albums are very special to me.

Also you overestimate Fear Factor guy's influence in the early 00s. >Watered-down NIN Only if that's the only other spooky alt rock you've ever heard, they sound nothing alike otherwise.

>>126770909 their first album and some songs on three cheers lean on post hardcore, but emo is post hardcore anyway, and who even cares this much about genres anyway, fucking autism
>>126776310 They literally sound nothing like Nine Inch Nails, doofus. Also, Nine Inch Nails is gay lifting music for men who can't get on any rides at Six Flags.
Post-hardcore feels like it's even more of a loose label than post-punk. It's really weird that people would try to throw bands like My Chemical Romance into the same genre as Husker Du or Fugazi or Minutemen I'm sure there's plenty of info out there as to how the "genre" developed but unlike most other genres, I wouldn't try out listening to a band just because they're described as "post-hardcore" because you have no idea what sort of sound you're actually going to get out of it
>>126778007 >but emo is post hardcore anyway, No, it isn't. The original "emotional hardcore" movement was confined pretty exclusively to the 80s, bands like Embrace and Rites of Spring. There are three waves of emo music. The third wave, which is what you're thinking of, is an offshoot of pop-punk, alt rock and or indie rock. The majority of the bands in that third wave take no influences from the first wave, even if they have actually listened to them a bit

>>126793041 they did matt dirty man yeah bob is the better drummer and all and can keep a tempo but who cares I liked the chaos of the first two albums
>>126793094 >fuck journos. It was the journos who told you they are pop punk and you went along with it like a sheep, but they didn't always call them that. All genre names are made up by the press. Here's also Rolling Stone calling them goth-punk in 2005. >I trust only my ears and when I listen to that garbage I hear Pop Punk You just said you didn't listen, schizo.
>>126796133 Circa is my favorite band, but I have a hard time calling them post-hardcore. Joturna and On Letting Go are borderline, I guess. Influenced by, sure.
I'm so fucking sad Circa is probably done though. LS Dunes is good, but no substitution.
