I mean people always want to diminish that Death wasn't the first Death Metal band, and sure, Seven Churches was proto-DM, but it was still more Thrash than Death Metal. Scream Bloody Gore was very much not thrash and is the first true Death Metal album, with songs being primarily about horror movie gore and death rather than the occult (even Morbid Angel is more about occult which is a theme more in Thrash bands like Slayer than true death metal)

as for Chuck's religion, yeah i don't think it was Christianity with songs like Crystal Mountain and the Philosopher. But the Logo did change over time and that makes me wonder if he was softening his opinion on Christianity as he got older and just didn't want to be offensive is more likely than him actually being Christian.

He did get bored of Death Metal and want to go prog though, that much is true.
The AIDS thing is just.. people don't get that Chemo can bomb your immune system as bad as AIDS does so yeah, sometimes you can die from the same infections as AIDS, because your immune system is wiped out by Chemo.

Death Metal is never meant to be taken that seriously. It's mostly supposed to just be horror movie themes put to music. Well all Heavy Metal started as that Death Metal is just really specific to slashers and zombie/cannibal movies.
It being gross/gory and kinda cheesy and silly with it's over the top splattery gore is kinda the charm.

The best thing I ever bought from HHR was my Bathory S/T hoodie I bought in October 2013. In that same order were Bathory - S/T LP and Bonehunter - Evil Triumphs Again on LP. I love that hoodie so fuckin much, even to the point where I took it to a seamstress recently to get the cuffs replaced and a few busted stitches fixed up.
