90s music is actually extremely soulful to me. It was markedly more sincere and vulnerable than the 80s and actually offered something original compared to the 2000s, where endlessly reviving old trends became the thing. The 90s are comparatively so hopeful and not cynical.

90s had the best pop music of all time. It had the compositionally complexity of 60s and 70s music with better technology and production values than 80s music, and with more soul than anything that came in the 2000s.

Not only is this statement completely retarded in of itself. This retard seems to not even understand what soul means in the metaphorical sense that OP used. Anon likely believed he was being smart when he wrote this too, sad.
the 80s sucked. everything was embossed by synthslop production (the precursor of modern trap and chartsslop). the only alternative were punks who couldn't play their instruments and weren't half as good as their 70s forerunners. 90s music gave much more attention to interesting production. Grunge buried Hair Metal, Post-hardcore and alt rock were a big advancement over 80s clunk, Metal and Electronic diversified, Hip Hop was at its peak etc

80's were awful but we got the rise of metal and alternative rock so it's still a good decade. the fuck did the 90's give us?

Was it? The 90s were basically the 80s peaking in a less phony form.
So they dropped the big puffy hair and lame tranny looks and focused more on the music, continuing trends already set in the 80s.
The 90s are pretty much the apotheosis of all that experimentation with genres from the 80s.

The 90s cared about authenticity and having a soul and being raw. The 80s were obsessed with production and technology. Sounds a lot like now musically although now zoomers think it's acceptable to be a complete cock sucker sell out. The 90s hated those people
