Saving for a new amp when I get a job. Should I get a Marshall DSL 40 or a Fender HR DeVille III? Most of my gain is going to come from stompboxes so the drive channel isn't a big draw but both of these seem fairly versatile otherwise. Both have an effects loop, have built in reverb(but I think the Marshall has digital reverb vs the Fender having a spring tank), and the Fender might be slightly higher wattage. They're about the same price usually used.

Is it better to get go for several pedals or for a single multi effect when on a budget? In the case of the latter, what's the best option? I must admit I'd rather go for pedals because it is way simpler but I'm keeping my options open.
Anonymous No.126795178 [Report] >>126795190
>>126795170
I'm new to this and I started w multi effect pedals and I didnt really like them. Having a pedalboard feels a lot cooler and gives me better control of each individual sound. You can get like 3 pedals for 150-175 total. Just go cheap.
Anonymous No.126795190 [Report] >>126795217
>>126795178
That's what I'm thinking too. In terms of the effects themselves, multi effect pedals are the winner but with most of the budget ones having just one or two switches, it can be a pain to control, especially while playing. At the same time, narrowing down which 3 pedals to go for seems tough too. With so many options for them, getting the best setup can be difficult when you're new to it.
Anonymous No.126795217 [Report] >>126795269
>>126795190
I say just go with 2 options, ones you can afford or ones you think sound cool. Amazon sells pedalboards that come with patch cables, so id check one of those out also if you wanna save money. I got one for 60.

no, pedals are a complete meme and if you 'need' anything more than an overdrive you're in it for the wrong reasons and will never be a real player
Anonymous No.126795263 [Report]
>>126795170
Several pedals but you don’t need to go overboard. Pick a handful of effects you deem essential (overdrive, reverb, maybe delay) and buy cheap used Boss pedals. If you like them they’re good pedals, if don’t like them or you want better examples of those effects you know what you’re after and used Boss holds value pretty well.
Anonymous No.126795269 [Report]
>>126795217
I'd probably get 3-4 cheap pedals then, joyo or behringer or whatever. Then get some cables, power supply and build a case out of wood. Just need to do some research first on the pedals themselves, I never dabbled with them so I have no idea what's worth getting or not.

honestly, youll want separate pedals. multi effects are good for stuff like modulation when youll have settings for chorus, vibrato and phaser/flanger though. find a pedal with a color flavors of reverb and one with some delays then find a couple dirt pedals you like- OD, disto, and fuzz. then youll be set.

What kind of reverb would imitate the sound of a piano?
What I mean is that, with a piano, after you let off a key, the dampers don't kill the sound of that note as hard as going from one fret to another on guitar -- so you have this subtle reverb of the previously played note on piano, but on guitar it gets killed instantly.

You didn't understand my post.
When going from one fret on a string to another, the first note gets killed harder than going from one note to another on piano because the piano has multiple strings for the different notes, the dampers aren't perfect, and the sound still resonates within the body of the piano. On guitar it's a hard kill because you're on the same string (okay, acoustic bodies maintain some resonance, I'm talking electric guitar), therefore, to do what you suggested would require playing the new note on a different string.

Funnily, all instruments used to be in Baroque tuning, which is 415Hz. And the "Ab" in Eb tuning would be 415Hz as well..or thereabouts. It's like 415 point something.
So basically, you could say that Eb is like the older version of concert pitch. Some classical symphonies specialize in only doing baroque tuning when playing baroque pieces.

Yamaha Guitalele

100% night and day. The only similarity would be 6 strings.

Ironically they're both telecasters, $150 for the squier, $300 for the other
The squier had a pretty bad neck and by the time I sold it the electronics were basically falling apart

Why are active basses so common anyway, you only ever see active pick ups on certain metal guitars but active basses are just common if not more than passive basses

They sound pretty good desu. Instant rumble. But like I've said, I'm just not picky. Look how popular Fender still is and most of their basses still aren't active.
This just goes for all bass gear. They just don't want to be left out with all the toys, but they just don't need it. lol.

I think it’s because bass players are more open to using non-traditional sound equipment. active pickups absolutely mog passive pickups. almost infinite tone control and with a good EQ you can get literally any tone you want from the bass. what you can’t get with EQ has to be done with pickup location and where you choose to pluck the strings but that literally also applies to guitar

I've been listening to the solo albums of Eric Clapton for the last few days while doing some late spring cleaning and this shit is fucking brutal. With the exception of Slowhand and I think There is One In Every Crowd everything so far has been sex music for women. The early music is also infested with 70s gospel choir. The cover images go hard though I give him that.
