Saving for a new amp when I get a job. Should I get a Marshall DSL 40 or a Fender HR DeVille III? Most of my gain is going to come from stompboxes so the drive channel isn't a big draw but both of these seem fairly versatile otherwise. Both have an effects loop, have built in reverb(but I think the Marshall has digital reverb vs the Fender having a spring tank), and the Fender might be slightly higher wattage. They're about the same price usually used.

Is it better to get go for several pedals or for a single multi effect when on a budget? In the case of the latter, what's the best option? I must admit I'd rather go for pedals because it is way simpler but I'm keeping my options open.
>>126795170I'm new to this and I started w multi effect pedals and I didnt really like them. Having a pedalboard feels a lot cooler and gives me better control of each individual sound. You can get like 3 pedals for 150-175 total. Just go cheap.
>>126795178That's what I'm thinking too. In terms of the effects themselves, multi effect pedals are the winner but with most of the budget ones having just one or two switches, it can be a pain to control, especially while playing. At the same time, narrowing down which 3 pedals to go for seems tough too. With so many options for them, getting the best setup can be difficult when you're new to it.
>>126795190I say just go with 2 options, ones you can afford or ones you think sound cool. Amazon sells pedalboards that come with patch cables, so id check one of those out also if you wanna save money. I got one for 60.
>>126794571>im fat and its everyone else's problem
>>126795170no, pedals are a complete meme and if you 'need' anything more than an overdrive you're in it for the wrong reasons and will never be a real player
>>126795170Several pedals but you donโt need to go overboard. Pick a handful of effects you deem essential (overdrive, reverb, maybe delay) and buy cheap used Boss pedals. If you like them theyโre good pedals, if donโt like them or you want better examples of those effects you know what youโre after and used Boss holds value pretty well.
>>126795217I'd probably get 3-4 cheap pedals then, joyo or behringer or whatever. Then get some cables, power supply and build a case out of wood. Just need to do some research first on the pedals themselves, I never dabbled with them so I have no idea what's worth getting or not.
>>126795170buy and overdrive, reverb, and delay then actually just play your guitar
>>126795255What does that even mean lol? I'm in it to get a decent tone when I'm playing. If you only 'need' a single pedal then why does literally every famous guitarist have a full board? Are they not 'real players' then?
>>126795275Does overdrive on its own work well to get good thrash rhythm tone as well as give a good tone for leads?
>>126795170honestly, youll want separate pedals. multi effects are good for stuff like modulation when youll have settings for chorus, vibrato and phaser/flanger though. find a pedal with a color flavors of reverb and one with some delays then find a couple dirt pedals you like- OD, disto, and fuzz. then youll be set.
>>126795334Yeah that's probably what I'll go for in the end. Reverb, delay and dirt. Just need to figure out what to go for.

What kind of reverb would imitate the sound of a piano?
What I mean is that, with a piano, after you let off a key, the dampers don't kill the sound of that note as hard as going from one fret to another on guitar -- so you have this subtle reverb of the previously played note on piano, but on guitar it gets killed instantly.
You can literally see when he goes to bed and wakes up with the time stamps.

It won't always be possible to play the next note on a different string (baby hands).
>>126795620You didn't understand my post.
>>126795633You didn't understand my post.
When going from one fret on a string to another, the first note gets killed harder than going from one note to another on piano because the piano has multiple strings for the different notes, the dampers aren't perfect, and the sound still resonates within the body of the piano. On guitar it's a hard kill because you're on the same string (okay, acoustic bodies maintain some resonance, I'm talking electric guitar), therefore, to do what you suggested would require playing the new note on a different string.

>>126797540Mmm I prefer the top hats. My first guitar (epi les paul) had those black speed knobs.
>>126797510This. My ear goes naturally to about Eb if left to its own devices without any tuning reference.
>>126797605Funnily, all instruments used to be in Baroque tuning, which is 415Hz. And the "Ab" in Eb tuning would be 415Hz as well..or thereabouts. It's like 415 point something.
So basically, you could say that Eb is like the older version of concert pitch. Some classical symphonies specialize in only doing baroque tuning when playing baroque pieces.

Baroque:

>>126797616Err... I mean G#. There's no Ab.
Of course, Eddie almost always played Eb or Drop C#.

What's the cheapest guitar you've bought? How does it compare to your most expensive?
>>126797839First guitar from the boomer who taught me. Absolute piece of shit acoustic for $20. Everything has been better than that.
>>126797839>cheapest guitar you've bought?Yamaha Guitalele
>How does it compare to your most expensive?100% night and day. The only similarity would be 6 strings.
>>126797839Ironically they're both telecasters, $150 for the squier, $300 for the other
The squier had a pretty bad neck and by the time I sold it the electronics were basically falling apart
>>126797495Embrace DAEDGE
>>126797910This isn't a restaurant.
Play standard or fuck off.
Is slap guitar worth learning or is it just a gimmick
>>126798090idk but it's so awkward to do compared to slap bass, there simply isn't enough space between the strings

whats the best tele combo?
want the double humbuckers and maybe thinking of a maple neck. I have tried the poly neck and its sticky asf
>anodized guard
enjoy losing all your top end
>>126798452maple neck on everything.
get down with the slickness
>>126798447Cool, you using one of these?
Why are active basses so common anyway, you only ever see active pick ups on certain metal guitars but active basses are just common if not more than passive basses
>>126798463just this
https://voca.ro/19iDgJGWusPw
>>126798468They sound pretty good desu. Instant rumble. But like I've said, I'm just not picky. Look how popular Fender still is and most of their basses still aren't active.
This just goes for all bass gear. They just don't want to be left out with all the toys, but they just don't need it. lol.
>>126798485Left WITHOUT* all of the toys
>>126798468passive basses just don't have enough oomph in the right frequencies they need that boost before the amp.
>>126798460rosewood on my LP feels like butter, it's actually smoother than Ibanez roasted maple
>>126798510it would be kerrygold if it was maple
>>126798533We might hit bump limit in less than 24h.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I'M A FUCKING FAILURE AND SUCK AT THIS STUPID INSTRUMENT
>>126798560just git gud lmao
>>126798560It just wasn't meant to be.
>>126798510your frets are more polished on the LP you dummy you don't feel the fretboard when you play especially not on a modern Les Paul with med jumbo frets, or in your case Les Paul Tribute with med jumbo frets

Band practice jam recorded on a phone yesterday.
>>126798468I think itโs because bass players are more open to using non-traditional sound equipment. active pickups absolutely mog passive pickups. almost infinite tone control and with a good EQ you can get literally any tone you want from the bass. what you canโt get with EQ has to be done with pickup location and where you choose to pluck the strings but that literally also applies to guitar
>>126798695>those stickersyou 8 years old?
>>126798778The guitar is old. Had it since 09
>>126798695Panda sticker is nice the rest is shit
>my thread hits bump limit in under 24h
>Schiz thread needs 2 days to hit limit even with his spam
You're move, son.
>>126798832I just bought a bass
>>126798778>>126798825The stickers are there to distract from the fact that I had to dig into the neck pocket to fit a tele neck onto a strat.
>>126796235I'm BLACK, if that counts
>>126799015PARDON ME WHILE I BURST
>>126799067I think Texas Tea is the best fender color
>>126799131I'm not too big on colors that rely on lighting, but it's definitely my favorite among the metallic finishes.
Sometimes I feel obligated to get a Texas Tea Tele to represent my home state.
>>126798600The LP does feel nice. I have picked up 3 other guitars and nothing compares so far. The only thing that bugs me is the weight
I've been listening to the solo albums of Eric Clapton for the last few days while doing some late spring cleaning and this shit is fucking brutal. With the exception of Slowhand and I think There is One In Every Crowd everything so far has been sex music for women. The early music is also infested with 70s gospel choir. The cover images go hard though I give him that.
