Don't you guys get sick of talking about the beach boys, beatles, taylor swift, nirvana, kanye, smiths, tvu ad nauseam?

the beach boys and the beatles ARE music, you ignorant frogposter
your favorite song exists because of the beatles, and sort of because the beach boys

Of course I like other music too but when I try to start discussions on less popular bands no one replies. Beach boys/beatles/whatever is a pretty easy common ground for a lot of people so those threads get more attention.

i make non bait threads about other bands and albums all the time and (YOU) never respond to them, they get maybe 4 or 5 posts and then buried by all the cringe repeat threads, i don't even listen to truly obscure shit even

i'll add the death of /mu/core has led to people only congregating around extremely popular well known artists and on the other end general threads and whatnot where people post bands too obscure to get a massive board presence to get excited about, culture died when people started to act like /mu/core wasn't good when in reality 80% of it was solid

I think more genre-specific generals is the solution desu. Compare /v/ to /vg/.

at this point its the only place on the board where people post different things the problem is its hard to discern what the "best" is and people just post 50 thousand recs expecting you to listen to every one of them to figure out for yourself in this singular highly specific genre, used to be I'd find an album that was getting massively shared in a genre I wasn't quite familiar with and that'd be the tip of my iceberg and I'd slowly find the next best and so forth but now I just don't have the time and energy to listen to everything when its not catered as well, because of this I have a massive back log of these "recs" and in reality I'll probably never find out which one was truly up my alley cause instead I put on my old favorites most of the time

i found one, thank you. i like 20% of the music on the mu core chart and maybe 1% of music in general on average so it's not bad

i was being overly harsh. I love old mucore actually and the purpose of it was too introduce people to underground stuff very worth looking at and it introduced me to a lot of eclectic cool music and the cultural impact was actually very impressive. really we've just fallen out of practice.
Really it probably starts with people taking interest in posts about new artists here.

Kind of crazy. /mu/ was incredibly anti Beatles before 2016, not that any of you were there. Strange to see things change.
