Godsmack's debut LP, which delivered 12 solid tracks for the post-grunge world. Vocalist Sully Erna channeled the haunting, harmonic Layne Staley to deliver an experience that would fill the gap left in Alice In Chains' absence, albeit with less truly introspective lyrics. The album was also held back by the track 'Get Up, Get Out!', which appeared to plagiarize the verse segments from AIC's 'I Know Somethin (Bout You)'. Overall, while Godsmack's self-titled album scratches the itch, a bad taste lingers in the mouth once it's over. 7/10.
>>126817943 (OP)>This came out in 1998>Layne Stanley didn't die until 2002>Alice in chains released hit singles and a huge MTV unplugged performance in 1996 two years prior, so idk what you mean by absence because their greatest hits didn't release until 2001>introspective lyrics; no example>a bad taste lingers in the mouth once it's over; no elaboration>7/10; random ratio based on unown parameters for your rating systemIf you wanna review music atleast know the history behind this stuff and please be more descriptive. Writing is all about illustrating an image with vocabulary. The only thing I got outta this review is that Godsmack is a watered down AIC rip-off. You honestly talked about AIC that it's jarring this album got a 7/10 from you, especially with that "bad taste" lingering comment. Don't give up though, it's a start and you can improve, I look forward to your next review.
>>126817943 (OP)Godsmack didn't channel anything but steaming piles of shit. Has nothing at all to do with AiC, as a terrible copy or otherwise.
