I respect his honesty. Billy Corgan interviewed him earlier this year and was trying to make the case that Kiss was high art or something and Gene basically said I’m flattered but musically we were meat and potatoes. Which I think is fair- they really weren’t horrible at all in the 70s, solid but unspectacular. A couple classic tunes though.
