yes and no. you can get very close with pedals and simulators but it will never be 100%. take for example trying to emulate a humbucker with a single coil guitar. a pedal or sim will add a lot more lows and maybe cut some mids but a humbucker essentially has two magnetic fields overlapping eachother at slightly different places along the length of the string and nothing simulates that perfectly.

It happened again. I took my Epiphone Casino into what I thought was a reputable shop for some nut work. A few days later, phone rings, they say it's done. In my mid 20s and started late, but want to play with other people as a bassist, not gig or anything. When and where should I start looking? Not many of my friends are into music. I could ask a few just curious if there are other places worth looking.
For context I know a couple dozen songs on bass, can figure stuff out by ear but it takes a while. I know some theory like scales, nashville notation, can improvise a little bit off of chord progressions with roots, fifths, octaves, arpeggios. Started ear training a bit and also started learning guitar but I'm terrible at both atm.

Yeah, memorizing how to navigate the stomp is pure cancer. I can generally get to 3 tones on the pedal alone and that's fine.

There's a setting somewhere that one of the knobs cycles 10 or 12 profiles. Looking up how to navigate in the manual is just as bad.

Another software problem I find is that the eq and IR settings I adjust in the "home" amplifier view section can't be saved and ported to the "library". So, when I use the pedal alone or record all of that goes away.

I already stripped my board down to 3 pedals and that's TU-3W > BD-2W > CE-2W.
Since that includes a tuner I'll say that I throw an RE-202 at the end of the chain sometimes, but I still need to spend time dialing in good presets for it. The pre-amp mode sounds great, though, with the Blues Driver.

Tuning by ear is never scientific. It's impossible to know which strings are in tune and which aren't. You'll end up going several cents flat or sharp even if you can tune them all in perfect unison. Also, the B string is basically impossible to bring up to perfect 440 pitch as it doesn't have a direct natural harmonic, and it warbles at perfect pitch.

Assuming I have a tuner my 3 pedals would be Boss Digital Delay, Boss Chorus, Dunlop orignal wah. I don't need an overdrive because I use a Mesa MkVII which basically has a boost channel built into the footswitch and has more than enough distortion to begin with.

Even new you can get a squier classic vibe or Yamaha. If you actually did the calculations for inflations we can get great guitars cheaper than ever now. Back in the day a fender or Gibson would have cost you the equivalent of 3-5k and there were no import brands doing anything worth buying.
