A good pop song is very hard to write and people underestimate this fact. People think that just because they can strum the three or four chords to various classic pop songs then that means they could easily write one, not true.

There's so many people who know everything about music in a technical sense but if you asked them to write a good pop song they wouldn't be able to do it because making good music has almost nothing to do with being technically adept

Irving Berlin is a better example of a great pop songwriter because a lot of his melodies still hold up today.
