>>126881780>>126900115>they were very successful but you hear zero influence on anyoneMCR has influence across genres and it still echoes to this day with contemporary artists. Artists influenced or inspired by mcr include emo-pop contemporaries that debuted after them like Paramore and Panic at the Disco (there's pictures of Ryan Ross wearing mcr shirts before panic made it), the whole late 00s-10s metalcore scene, most of the three word metalcore bands like Black Veil Brides, Sleeping With Sirens, Bring Me the Horizon cite them as an influence.
The whole emo rap scene, Lil Peep sampled The Ghost of You in a song and said that he was a big fan growing up and dressed as Black Parade Gerard Way for Halloween when he was a kid, even bleached his hair for it, pop stars like Post Malone, Billie Eillish, has referenced MCR in her lyrics, copied her green roots black hair look from Gerard, there's multiple photos of her and her brother wearing MCR shirts and attended the reunion shows, Yungblud(obvious MCRfag), MGK, Halsey, Grimes, PinkPantheress said they are her favourite band and used to be in a MCR coverband, indie darlings like Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker.
Then there's more modern bands like Creeper, Palale Royale, Palaye Royale, Famous Last Words, 21 Pilots, New Years Day, Save Face, I'm sure there's more.
Most of these artists are dogshit, but the music industry took a huge dive after the 00s and that's a reflection of that. After the 2008 financial crisis the industry stopped funding big theatrical rock bands because they costed more and opted for more laid back lofi artists, so there were less obvious MCR inspired acts than there could be, but their influence can still be seen today.
