The only reason Brian Wilson never soared to Paul’s heights is because he had zero support from his useless bandmates. If he had the chance to spend his early years with insanely talented collaborators and partners he would have gotten the support he needed to continue making good music for the rest of his life. Instead of Lennon and Harrison he got his brothers, a father who hated him, a cousin who wouldn’t let him “fuck with the formula”, and a therapist who basically kept him prisoner for decades. It’s a miracle we even got pet sounds and smile out of him.
