I feel like a lot of what guitarists learn is the consequences of theory applied to the instrument. At least that's how I've gone about it. Much different than classical training.

You like this song well they wrote it in a key - that's theory, even if you aren't directly learning it.

No you first.
Also I would use a nylon stringed classical guitar that is more suited for finger playing. Both have their advantages. Neither one is "better" but to assume that both can do everything the other can is disingenuous.

what i'm saying is that you can do much more with finger technique, even if picks have their use it's not even close.
why picks are popular is a cultural thing, and for electric guitar beginners its the easy route

So if you want to get down to brass tacks, you can use a pick while using your fingers as well, its called chicken picking.
Its not the easy route, fingers are a lot easier.
Picks are popular because the genres demand it, the dynamics of a pick is far greater than fingers, the highs are higher and the lows are lower. Even finger nails don't quite have the snap of a heavy pick.

I like to begin my session days with a cleansing face scrub. Mint scented. After that I take an ice bath for 15 minutes before heading to the sauna. During this time I'm doing my vocal warmups. Think of it like spider climbs but with your voice. I enjoy a chai latte after. I drive my moped to the studio and take a line of coke to take the edge off. Start doing actual spider climbs on the acoustic. Put amp on standby to warm up the tubes. Read some Jim Morrison poems to get in the right mindset.

I'm thinking of buying a new Yamaha bass. Right now I've just got a BB-300 that gets the job done great but has absolutely been through the ringer and I want something with just 'more'. I used to have a 414 but it got stolen and I miss it. I know they're not exactly luxury instruments, but goddamn are they good bang for the buck.
Right now trying to decide between a 434 and a 734A

it usually doesn't. they probably came unseated after leaving the factory. it can happen with severe climate changes like going to a customers hovel or sitting in a shitty guitar center with no climate control. most new builds won't use glue on the frets because the fret slots and fingerboard are pristine and don't really need it but maybe this one should have got some. judging by all the shit around the bridge it looked like something went wrong with the bridge glue up on this guitar from the factory or maybe it got heat checked in transport. this shit should not have left the factory in that state. american manufacturers actually have people play and test the instrument for a few minutes before sending to packing so surely anyone with two brain cells would've caught this. not excusing gibson because this shouldn't have happened but i've seen new martins that were literally unplayable because the neck had too much back bow and they don't put two way rods in their guitars. gibson claims to plek their guitars and i'm sure they do a quick job of it but ive never had fret level issues on any of their instruments personally. my fender americans will have a slightly high fret or two sometimes

i hate warmoth because they don't work well at all with aftermarket parts. you will need to already know before hand which parts you are going to use and either hope they're drilled for what warmoth wants you to use or ream/drill your own holes. fender released their standard series and quality wise it's on par with the classic vibe series although the appointments are different. i would just mod a standard

i think you'd have a better time upgrading the squier personally. warmoth is good for autisticly speccing a neck or spending absurd amounts of money on beautiful wood. i actual like the light and durable woods that come on cheap squiers and fenders especially with non-transparent/burst colors. fenders were always designed to be affordable guitars and tone woods ultimately don't matter for electrics

Most pro guitarists change out the frets to a custom size anyway. Gibsons are for pros. Maybe if you are using up a good portion of your student loan on an electric guitar, you need to maximize your dollar and get a Guild or a Cort.

>didnt practice guitar at all while away volunteering
>did play bass and started playing pick only
>picking on bass slowly getting better also seeing benefits for certain songs
>forgot to order extra large pedalboard for guitar
Setting up to practice a bit now. Its not that I didnt have my guitar, I just didnt feel like playing it. Plus I was out in the woods and didnt want it to get covered in sweat. I was okay with my bass enduring the heat. One of the girls I was volunteering with has a pretty nice voice. Next time I see her we are gonna try to write.

Because Kiesel will take your custom order guitar and let metal kids play it at Namm. Or they'll just forget to finish it.

At first I thought so too but after forcing myself to keep trying eventually something clicked and I've been looking for my pick when I start to play instead of fingering. Muting with a pick in hand is really tedious and annoying though.

same. picking in general is brighter but it depends on the attack, if you have a good bass you can get a lot of tonal differences just by altering attack, which takes some of the sting out of losing that smooth finger sound.

Tonal opportunities with a single-pickup bass, a volume knob and a flatpick..it's more versatile than people think. Heres a couple of classic bass lines with increasing levels of attack and tonal diversity
