Actually all the criticisms of Be Here Now are cop-outs and cliches. Because the production is basically the same as on the first 2 albums, it's just slightly more dense, that's all. And all those first 3 albums have hardly any bass.

Anyway, no one whinges and moans when My Bloody Valentine overdub a million guitar tracks on Loveless to get a massive sound. But when Oasis do it it's overindulgence and over-the-top because they're in the box of "pop-rock" and nothing out of the box they do could ever be accused of having artistic merit.

then in 2021 they released the knebworth live album/documentary/official concert recordings in 2021 which were all about capturing how monumental and special oasis were live. look at what they talk about in that documentary with the reunion tour now in swing. how indefinable they were back then, how they were "the last of something", how their gigs were "once in a lifetime events that meant so much to so many people."

by summer of last year with the 30th of definitely maybe it seemed like something was about to happen which is right when the announcement came. everything they did over the last 5 years was solely buildup to get their relevance back, make it into the charts again, create nostalgia, and grow a new audience that would be willing to pay whatever it took to see a once in a lifetime band again. of course noel's divorce might've played into the matter but I truly wonder now if it might be because noel and liam started talking again.

Feels like Oasis fans are extremely devoted and vocal about it being the best band in the universe, I find them ultiamtely forgettable and I doubt anyone will think of them in 10 years. Not trying to be contrarian, they really do have some great songs, but overall their cultural impact is limited to Wonderwall and maybe Stop Crying Your Heart Out.

The Smiths have more Spotify streams than Oasis. Zoom zooms love them. Theyre more popular than The Cure.

Morrissey did 1 night last month at the Manchester Co op to 20,000 people. Sold out in a couple of days. The man is a mancunian Elvis, as Liam puts it.
Plus Johnny Marr will probably be making a guest appearance at the Oasis Manchester shows. Noel has done smiths covers at shows and keeps talking about how he wants to play backup guitar on a reunion tour. all helps raise the profile.

Boomers on here have no idea how popular they are with under 25s. plus the oldheads and people who missed them 1st time around. Nostalgia sells and they have a strong image/songs. Plus the allure of seeing a band who influenced everyone else and who have never reformed - the novelty will draw all the Glastonbury crowd who want to say they were there when it happened.

Would they sell out Heaton Park? Obviously not, because chavs don't listen to intelligent well crafted pop music. It's chavs and the General Population who buy Oasis tickets. You can't really compare the two.

But they'd definitely clean up on a world tour and do 20k venues in the UK.

Morrissey's fan base in America is bigger and more dedicated than Oasis. It's why he's worth 50 million despite not being 'famous' like Liam and Noel. Smiths will reunite and it will be huge. Watch this space.
