"At the time I was in a band Smile and thought I was a pretty good guitarist. So I heard Hendrix's 'Stone Free' and thought 'Come on, this has got to be studio trickery. Nobody can actually play that.' Then sometime later Hendrix was playing in London so I went down there to see what all the fuss was about. And there you had it. He played the entire 'Stone Free' perfectly and just like it sounded on the record, including the part where he talks to his guitar and it 'answers' him back and I thought 'Welp, it's back to the drawing board.'"

love how all the British players of the time virtue signalled about how good Hendrix was
Clapton, Page, Beck, Brian May... all these guys are way better than Hendrix at guitar

Page and Beck are the only great guitar players you've cited, and both are below Hendrix in terms of creativity and raw skill
listen to any guitar solo before Hendrix and you'll easily realize how much he changed the game
he brought agility, virtuosity, unusual effects, flashy and long psychedelic solos, to a genre that at its best only had the blandest pentatonic blues solos
also, the yardbirds were lame as fuck

Brian May's playing is very technical but has zero soul.

Trvthnvke. Clapton especially is an incredibly mediocre guitarist who almost quit guitar because he realized how good Hendrix was.
