Why don't zoomers like the Who as much as other dadrock bands?
>>126950846 (OP)Because we won't get fooled again.
no consistent album, and zoomers are too dense to seek out meaty beaty big and bouncy
Bad associations from childhood

>>126950846 (OP)as a zoomer who doesnt like the Who as much as other rock bands, idk, same thing with led zeppelin. Not my thing
>>126950887they have good albums
>>126950846 (OP)Because zoomers only like shit like this
https://youtu.be/l53HzGNazoY?si=fddUsXXd5t-pHu8o
>downloading loads of cheese pizza for """RESEARCH"""
the absolute madlad
>>126950846 (OP)Because the kids aren't alright anymore
I am zoomer and have been listening to the who for almost ten years
>>126950922What the fuck is this shit
The only The Who album I've listened to is Quadrophenia and I thought it was mediocre
Because even at their peak they were mid at best. Then again having a hack like Daltrey as their singer ruined any chances of them ever reaching the upper echelons of rock.
>>126950846 (OP)the who is a music players band, like any good jam band. zoomers make music with ai and an 8 button keyboard with skibidi noises. they wouldn't get it
>>126950846 (OP)because their songs were corny
magic bus? pinball wizard? gimme a fucking break man!
>>126950887Who's Next and Quadrophenia are both excellent. While Tommy might have a few more dull moments, the whole album is pretty solid as well.
>>126951444>mediocreThis alone BTFO pretty much every single song made in the last 20 years
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oRkeKVWayg
They peaked with this album. The pseudo-operatic drivel and boring dad rock that followed is mostly trash.
>>126950846 (OP)They didn't git gud until Who's Next
>>126952103Listened to it in 2021, listened again in 2023. Felt the same.
>>126952009pete is easily the weakest member of the who thoughbeit
>>126951466Millennials are infinitely more pushing of AI than zoomers ever were. kys asap please
>>126951466Explain what you like about one of their songs in exclusively musical terms without mentioning anything about the band members, lyrics or story behind the song
No Hollywood movie.
Not yet.
>>126952921they loosely jammed around the recorded track when playing live instead of just playing a studio version.

>>126950846 (OP)They can't relate to "playing the squeeze box" if you know what I mean
>>126950944>cheese pizzaAnon it's okay, you can say child porn here.
>>126950846 (OP)While musically theyโre mostly straightforward rock, many of their songs have complex, seemingly contradictory moods. They donโt fit neatly into distinct categories like the kids like these days.
>>126952921They were the only rock band ever that could just trash around with a high level of musicianship. The drums and the bass were constantly soloing at the same time and the guitar player had to hold the beat to keep everything from falling apart. From 1968 to 1971 they were untouchable on stage. They made Zeppelin sound like a shitty pub band and the Stones like pre-programmed robots. The MC5 were sort of there, but they had nowhere near that level of musicianship
All their albums are loaded with filler
Pretty dorky band with no sex appeal.
>>126953096idk man, this place is filled with glownigs.
>>126950846 (OP)The Who sucks ass. More like literally who lmao.
The way Pete Townshed wrote music was very partiicular but his tropes sometimes made the songs too "The Who" if that makes sense.
>>126950846 (OP)I'm a fan of the who, though their later work doesn't appeal to me, I enjoy their 60s music and witty humor.
when I was a kid The Who felt like the most immortal among Zeppelin, Kinks, Sabbath (besides iron man), Floyd, and even most of the Beatles. The Who had Baba O Reilly , My Generation, and Won't Get Fooled Again. Their mega hits sound like they were made for stadiums and they echoed through the world used in shows and commercials. That reputation might explain why its not "cool" to like them nowadays because they don't have that slight outsider edge like picking the Beach Boys as your fave of the 60s rock rollers. Quadrophenia and Who Sell Out are the qualifiers for cool guy Who albums, of course I love Tommy too and no body is gonna argue their first, quick one, or Who's Next aren't great.
>>126950846 (OP)top boomer bands like Beatles, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Floyd will be remembered forever. no one will care about second rate boomer bands
>>126950846 (OP)because of the name. Unironically.
zoomers probably salty about the CP thing since they were the kids in it
the truth is, The Who are a singles band
>muh concept albums
pretty sure Queen had those too
entwistle and moon died
without those two, what is even the point
>>126950846 (OP)Because they just have 2-3 good songs. The bassist was really in the wrong band.
>>126951553I like parts of quadrophonia and who's next but I agree with you overall, much more of a prog and psychedelic fan than Beatles or whatever though,so since I don't even like the Beatles or Dave Clark their earlier work is a much harder sell.
>>126955582Prog Rock Bands and both The VU and The Beatles have debatable claim to that aswell so did The Pretty Things and Small Faces, and then before that a bunch of 50s country musicians had concept albums. So it's yk. But for what they did the who have moments. They're not as good as Hendrix or The VU I would say. They're better than The Beatles as are The Kinks who I'd maybe put on par with Hendrix,CAN,or The VU.
>>126955937I'd argue they have three solid albums with only a couple of songs I genuinely skip but that they weren't like as great as superfans probably make them to be. But still pretty good.
>>126955582Also concept albums currently have very limited relevancy let's be real. That's on par with saying the Beatles were important because le sitar and le French horns like anybody does that bullshit anymore haha, but I like them more than The Beatles or The Beach Boys for sure. Better stoner jams.
>>126950846 (OP)He got caught with Pictures of Lily
>>126950846 (OP)Its because the drummer - MOON THE LOON - died to the real life meme of being the wonky alcoholic drummer.
If they ever make a noteworthy film on the who it should primarily focus on following keith moon around because he was legit fucking insane but was the fire of the band.
I love coming back and listening to this shit every few years. Like it or not this literally peak as fuck. :50 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-Hdkyc_9GY&ab_channel=MusicTracksUK
For me it's Eminence Front
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xODK_OwxpHM
>>126964032They'd long since fallen off at that point. Should have been Who's Next,Quadro,or Sell Out desu.
>>126950846 (OP)Who would have thought that this guy turned out a pedophile? Everyone.
The kids donโt do their research
>>126950846 (OP)Because they got mogged hard by their contemporaries. The Beatles, Kinks, Stones, Doors, and Zeppelin were all better at rock
>>126950846 (OP)Idk I think the gen z is drawn more to psychedelic, ethereal sort of music for whatever reason. So Pink Floyd or the Beatles psych era or Beach Boys or Doors get more buzz than Who or even Zep nowadays.
Zep and Stones were cool again for a little bit in the early 10s seemed like probably due to games like COD and Guitar Hero using them. Then by like 2015-16 that kind of tapered off, the "wrong generation" thing was a meme
>>126965593Greta Van Fleet didn't help LZ's image since they're so fucking lame. Unironically that probably made some young people think of them as more uncool than they would have.
I don't mind black guys having sex with my wife
>>126965593I'm a zoomer and I do even though I shit on most of the bands you just mentioned and enjoy the two quite a bit. I'm a early zoomer too. The gist if what you're saying though yeah. Basic sentiment is probably accurate. My arguments on here also seem to reflect that. The Beatles had a hard rock phase too but that's never what people are trying to argue is better when they argue with me,and tbf the who did have a shorter psych period. But less people are arguing with me about me liking Ted Nudgent than liking CAN haha,so even if it's negative probably still where their attention is.
>>126950846 (OP)I heard A Quick One a few months ago and I really liked so I def need to hear more. Helps that I love Power-Pop (thanks Pete for coining that btw)
>>126955937Wrong band? who else could play with Moon?
>>126965593The thing with Zeppelin is they prefer to keep a low profile (mainly to avoid the pedo accusations from all their touring groupies back then) & instead prefer to continuously bring up their early days in the late sixties because the seventies is seen as a "dirty era" rather than the "rock paradise" the sixties is portrayed as, even if it dampers their popularity in the long run. This February was the 50th anniversary of Physical Graffiti & they did basically nothing with it & instead put out "Becoming Led Zeppelin" which was, you guessed it, a movie about their formation in the late sixties.
>>126967304That's a good one for sure.
>>126950846 (OP)Who are these zoomers? In the UK The Who are easily considered one of the top 3 bands of the era
>The Beatles >Rolling Stones>The WhoThey took the baton from the Stones and Beatles and took rock to harder place and evolved the genre to the next level.
>>126951469No zoomer of all people can tell me what is corny. The most cringe mother fuckers out there
>>126965882Their early shit is totally proto punk and no one mentions this. Really the first to use feedback in a badass way. I feel fine is lame
