Here's that MIM Fender I was telling you about, bro
What guitar should I play if I want to get a girl like this?
>>126985858an extremely expensive one
>>126985858Yamaha with a matching motorcycle. Ladies love it.
Flying V for me. No other shape comes close to it in looks, comfort or playability. Drop the boomer paul, ignore the stratoscheister and take the V pill. You will not regret it.
>>126985858You could play a hello kitty squier and you could get a girl like that if you know how and what to play. Girls literally don't give a flying fuck what guitar you play, it's all the same shit to them. Eddie Van Halen played a fucking Frankenstein that looked like it was fresh out of a dumpster and he was drowning in pussy.
>>126985894>Only a StandardDoomed to failure.
>>126985921True. If anything the frankenstein was like a life jacket for him.
>>126985858you stop playing and learn to dance instead
>>126985894This but the 60s Standard in bourbon burst
Practicing chromatic scales, cause my teacher said so, and triumph of the metal people on guitar for the time being. My one problem now when I'm on guitar is not having my open notes ring, i have a bit of trouble muting after playing.
>>126985961Keep it at anon, you're guitaring and bassing generally.
>>126985984I will its really satisfying getting this practice in and having some set goals for this year musically. Future is looking bright.
>>126985900Do you play V? How is it for classic/sitting position? I can't help but think that void is just meant to put guitar on the right leg.
>>126985961Horizontal or spiders?

>>126986244Very nice. I'm a sucker for Fender's walnut finishes.
brand new demo with vocals.
https://voca.ro/11k1Za5EV3rX
>>126986244Looks great for a 50 year old guitar. Congrats.
>>126986132That's quite literally how it is. Put the inside of the V on your right leg and it's the most comfortable thing to play. Your back is straight and body facing forward, right hand at a perfect spot. Once I tried the V, nothing feels as good.
If you by classic sitting position you mean like the way you'd play a strat then no, that won't work at all. But it doesn't need to, there's a better way to play it.
>>126986282it sounds like your mic is in the next room, so muddy.
>>126986345i have no clue what im doing
>>126986282When I picture you, you look like Stefan Urquelle
Sure not gonna practice using earbuds again. Even with everything down super low but the volume knob on the guitar itself I'm sure to cook my eardrums. The wire for the things kept getting in the way, too.
>retards on /gg/ actually think not being able to drop your guitar is a design flaw
>>126986382Yeah, some of us actually leave the house with our guitars. If it can't survive a 6 ft fall its probably built like shit. I've dropped my strat down the stairs and the only damage was to the trim on the wall guitar was untouched.

If I get a PRC, I might go with the San Fran inlay instead.
>>126986418my 335 isnt even in my house, its in the back of my trunk i use it that much in public.
>guitar is flawlessly made>but its actually bad because you cant fucking throw it down a flight of stairsis it really that hard to take care of your instruments? Why is there a situation where you're ever going to drop your guitar?
>>126986444is that the trademark san fran cum splatter on poopdick brown fretboard on that one?
>>126986448If it was flawlessly made go ahead and drop it from the top of your stairs and see how it holds up.
Its a fragile piece of wall art.
>>126986382The Gretsch version of those things is heavy af. I wouldn't blame it for getting damaged in a waist high fall. I'd still kind of like its neck to survive a tipping over from stand height tho
>>126986138One finger per fret then moving one fret up or down when I reach the final note. Not sure what its called he didn't name it
>>126986382stop being a brandwhore sperg, the headstock is genuinely a weak point that is notorious for being fragile
I love Gibson guitars but I'm honest enough to admit when they have faults
>>126986266Iโve never seen one with a maple neck with this finish, just the natural ash with maple. Iโm not too into walnut with rosewood but this looks great
>>126986284A little dings here and there but not bad at all. Some wear spots through the finish from playing but thatโs expected. Iโm fairly sure itโs been refretted at some point because 70s Fenders are fretted pushed through the side instead of pushed in from the fretboard and if youโre not careful pulling the frets out youโll chip the edges of the board by the frets and this has some chips indicating that, but I canโt feel them when playing. If it was refretted it was a long time ago, and these frets were recently dressed and feel great. Itโs considerably lighter than I was expecting for an ash body Mustang, seller said 7.25 pounds and I thought that canโt be right but it might be, itโs pretty light. Normally ash Mustangs are 7.5 pounds on a good day. I love my Japanese Mustang but this thing makes that feel like a cheap copy (which I guess it is?). Sub $1500, I was going to buy another Japanese Mustang but then this guy dropped his price pretty substantially for the 4th of July so I jumped on it. A vintage Fender in decent shape for the cost of a 10-20 year old Japanese Fender? Yeah Iโll take that
>>126986463guitars arent meant to be abused in such a manner. You actually swear yourself off a great brand of guitar which is entirely different from fender because you don't treat your instruments with any respect
>>126986467it wouldnt ever fall from waist high i use strap locks
>>126986484as long as you are careful with your guitars it literally isnt an issue. them showing up cracked or broken while being shipped is a freak accident
>>126986505You got that right. I'd never own a Gibson and its not because of their build quality.
I have all the guitars I need already, my strat does literally everything why would I need another guitar? Built like a tank, does every genre, sounds the best, feels the best, plays the best, has the most versatility, again why would I buy anything else?
>>126986505You don't own a cat because they would definitely knock all three guitars over.
>>126986462Not that guy but I suspect it's the coating on whatever the fretboard is made of flaking off.
>>126986505of course, thats why none of mine are broken
its exactly what you said, you have to be careful with them, make sure they're far away from your drummer, put up in their cases, and so on
my other guitars dont require the extra diligence
>>126986527because it literally doesnt sound like a humbucker guitar. unless you have an HSS strat. the sounds very different
>>126986557i had a cat he passed away but he would never knock over shit. also the stand i use is a sideways rack so its hard for guitars to fall out of
>>126986557>guy who drops his guitars also doesn't discipline his pets how far can we dig this hole
An HH with splits can sound like a single coil but a single coil can't sound like an HH.
>>126986282>fat ass plops on his sectional to shitpost>snaps 7 headstocks and one korgpoetry
single coil neck pickups sound better than humbucker neck pickups
>>126986444I think that's acrylic. I've never heard of an acrylic fretboard before. The neck on mine's incorporated. No backplate. Replacing it would be an adventure.
Are we still going on about this? Fuck man. I'm not even going to get into the semantics of the argument, you're a fucking idiot for falling for the brand competition race.

Great sounds a traditional Strat doesn't cover:
>Humbucker bridge
>Tele bridge
>Neck + bridge
>Rhythm circuit
>Low cut Jag
>JM/Jag tremolo usage
>Out of phase
Now ask yourself, how many of these do you need? And keep that in mind before buying another Strat.
>>126987092dont need any of that to rock and roll dingus
https://voca.ro/1mQg280Wh1h3
>>126987092>out of phase>strat doesnโt coverHuh?
>>126987092All I ever use are bridge bucker and tele middle, so I guess I don't need a strat
Though sometimes I crave that second position strat sound for rhythm
>>126987030oh i'm not a guitarist. where do you think you are?
>>126987092It goes way deeper than electronics for me. On top of that itโs the body size and shape combined with the neck/scale. Itโs why I have one of each model Fender makes for the most part, still missing a proper Tele and deeper cuts like the Marauder. Theyโre on the list though as well as variations of guitars I already have, Iโm missing a JM with a rhythm circuit and Iโm starting to want to replace the Jagstang I got rid of over a decade ago. That oneโs kind of a meme though, and could be covered by putting a humbucker or hotrail in one of my Mustangs.
>>126986244This things vibrato is near perfect, out of the box returns to zero perfectly going both up and down. My Japanese Mustangโs vibrato has been a pain. When the seller took it all apart to take pics of the internals he put one of the switches in backwards so in and out of phase are reversed but thatโs an easy fix. Iโve got to set it up for myself with 11s and will fix all that little stuff when I do it but the seller has it near perfect with 10s so Iโll just wait til these strings die. Looks great, feels great, sounds great (still lower output pickups but thatโs what I like), love it. Canโt stop playing it.
>>126987183Can you take a BD-2 and name it Blue Balls?
>>126987030Your fake superiority complex is an ugly look. Learn to play before you criticize others routines.
>>126987092positions 2 and 4 on a strat are out-of-phase and are the best tones the guitar has
also, use whatever guitar is best for the music you want to make
please shut the fuck up with the brand warring. please.
>>126987419idk i like strat bridge sometimes.
>>126985842glueing trash together and slapping a veneer on it. nice
>>126987533Oh me too, I mean it depends on what you're playing. The Strat doesn't have many bad sounds, but it can't cover everything. No guitar can. Even coil splitting isn't 100% the same because of wiring impedance and the top end.
Every guitar has its purpose. I have seven guitars, all functionally different, and I love them all for what they do.
Hi, Iโm Paul Reed Smith. And let me tell you something you probably donโt want to hear: all guitars sound the same.
No, seriously you give me two guitars, blindfold me, run โem through a high-gain amp, a few pedals, maybe toss in some compression and reverb? You think Iโm gonna tell the difference between ash, alder, or mahogany? Between a Strat and a Les Paul? Come on.
Itโs not the wood. Itโs not the shape. Itโs not the inlays, or the nitro, or whether the bridge was cold-forged under a blood moon.
Itโs your hands.
The magicโs in the player. Santana sounds like Santana on a PRS, on a Yamaha, on a plank of drywall with a pickup stuck in it. That tone? Thatโs in him not in the guitar. All we do is make the best possible tools for players to do what they do.
But heyโฆ if all guitars do sound the same might as well get one that stays in tune, feels amazing, and looks like it was carved by angels. Right?
Buy a PRS.
I believe anyone that claims tonewood makes a difference should be forced to take a public blindtest
>>126987654>It's a "tone is in the hands" episodeEvery player has characteristics that identify them as unique, it's true.
But tone is in your electronics. Your amp, your pickups, and any shaping in your signal path.
Period. It is the only actually correct answer that isn't relying on warm fuzzy platitudes. Science is science, shut the fuck up.
>>126987693we could play the exact same guitar and amp with the same settings, and people would be able to tell the difference.
>>126987693Plug your guitar in and don't touch it.
What sound does it make.
Tone is in the hands.
>>126987706Yes but those differences wouldn't be tonal in characteristic. They'd be things like your attack and the timbre resulting from your grip pressure. Shit like that. But it's minimal.
Tone is in your signal path.
I've been practicing on an electric guitar, I don't own an acoustic but noticed their necks are wider; when I start playing on an acoustic will it be jarring coming from an electric? Will anything be easier? Like barre chords? I have a lot of trouble with barres
I'm a fan of paul gilbert and half his live rigs sound like complete ass, I guess you'd just say he just happened to be sick those days
Tone is stored in the balls. FACT
>>126987654nigga tellin me wood ain't matter and got he own damn reserve collection. fuck outta here nigga
Tone is signal. Don't be newfags repeating snakeoil. It is 100% possible to accurately recreate the tone of any player with signal.
There are a thousand characteristics that are individual to the player, its true, but they're not tonal in nature.
>>126987725Everything will be harder, the strings are stiffer, they're rougher to slide on and you'll barely be able to play anything past the 9th fret, if you're already having trouble barring chords it would be even harder on acoustic necks
>>126987740the attack and timbre of your playing, whether you use fingers or a pick all effect your overall tone
>>126987725Yamaha entry guitars have very thin necks, the action determines how hard it is to press the strings.
>>126987554I respect it.
If you believed the tonewood truthers you would too.
>>126987654>drywall bodies made for smashingPaul you're a visionary.
>>126987755Damn, that really sucks :/
Maybe I should get an acoustic and start practicing now then.
>>126987764I feel like that builds bad habits for when you eventually move to a more traditional acoustic guitar.
>>126986349mess with the "levels", when the bar goes red that means you hit the threshold. a lot of your instruments are at the threshold and there is no more room for anything else, like vocals
>>126987725acoustic strings tend to be heavier, so it will be a bit harder on the hand and fingers, but you'll adjust quickly. For barres instead of squeezing with just your hand, try using your arm to pull back and apply pressure on the frets. You'll get there, it's a right of passage.
barre chords aren't about pressure they are about applying the pressure correctly. The amount of pressure I use to fret a full barre chord is less than the pressure I would use to pickup an empty soda can.
>>126987784the suck volume is cranked to ten and I'm breaking off the knob
>>126987796^this the stuff retards who can't play say to sound smart
>>126987802>the suck knobi think i captured a rawness and aggression and unhinged feeling very well. and my solos ride the line between chaotic noise and rock licks
>>126987796excuse me bro you dropped your finger
>>126987796not gonna work for reggae, you have to use superhuman strength for exactly one nanosecond on the 2nd and 4th beat or else it sounds sloppy and bad manners
>>126987796on some tough ones not choking out a barred note on the b string or whatever sometimes the only answer is pure strength, especially acoustic/classical.
>>126987839>>126987828Its not though all you are going to do is push too hard and bend the note out of tune lmao.
Stop retard gripping the neck, if you really do have to squeeze hard you need to set your action up better or invest into a good slide.
this tone is in the signal path, and speaker nonsense is kinda retarded. acoustic guitar playing will disprove this.
>thumb over neck
>white knuckle grip the entire time
guys why do my hands hurt and I get tired playing fast?
>>126987790>using you arm to pull back and apply pressure on the fretsI do this; I'm having trouble with the opening to stairway to heaven when your middle finger is supposed to stay on the 3rd string and let it ring.
Feel like I can do this without giving up some pressure on the high E string with my barre.
>>126987916can't* do this
>he's inventing bullshit again
thumb over neck is way more comfortable only prog homos swear by thumb behind neck at all time
Easy way to check if your action is too high
Take a quarter put it behind the strings on the 12th fret, does the quarter fall out? Action is too high.
>>126987937obviously over the fret wire don't do it in between dingus
>>126987930thumb over the neck should only be done if you are using it to fret a note. Otherwise thumb goes behind the neck in line with the middle finger.
>>126987894>Acoustic guitars have tone so your argument is invalid!jesus h christ they're unrelated until you plug the acoustic in you fucking retard
>>126987937I can fit 3 quarters behind it what does this mean
>>126987969thumb over neck makes bending very easy
>>126987796>unreported incometypical poorfag behavior
>>126987979full blown AIDS
>>126987979early onset arthritis and poor intonation is what that means
>>126987975i got him so hes angry. tone doesnt only come from the amplifier you mongoloid.
>>126987984ok thats funny right there lol i hyuk hyuked a few times and even slapped my knee nice.
>>126987980Buddy, if its hard to bend you just add another finger to support the current finger, I can bend and vibrato with my pinky.
>>126987916Sometimes it's a matter of where you are applying the pressure through your finger, sometimes I'll have to pressure more to one side of the fretboard or the other depending on need. The barre might be "rolled" to one side more if you get what I mean. I never really think about it like that though, just keep adjusting until everything rings. One day soon you'll just be able to do it. Maybe tomorrow even. I remember struggling and getting super frustrated practicing barres. "My hands can't do this!!" I thought. Then I could.
STOP ARGUING.
AGAIN, different tools for different jobs. This isn't rocket science guys. Thumb over neck for choking bends and vibrato, 3-note per string riffing, etc.
When you need to do scale patterns, arpeggios, stretches, 4-note per string passages, etc you need to shift your thumb to directly behind the first knuck of your middle finger.
Get used to shifting back and forth. You may almost NEVER need to switch to thumb-behind, but being comfortable with it for stretchy shit means you wont take shortcuts around it.
Gonna learn slide guitar with a glass slide like Derek Trucks :-)
>>126988012Bad advice, you'll get arthritis and your cock will fly off and explode. Thumb over neck will get you on a watchlist
>>126988003i use multiple fingers and my thumb over neck to bend and i play 9s. you probably have improper technique
>>126988003bending with thumb behind neck sounds like a homo shrieking with a dildo stuffed in his ass, zero power or grace

the backing isn't New Order enough
the main guitar riff is trash maybe the bend is shallow, solo is fine
deliver the vocals differently
>>126988035skill issue
>>126988034Thumb over neck is bad technique. Poor ergonomics, doesn't allow full range of motion, limits leverage and looks retarded. You should only thumb over neck if you are actively using your thumb to fret.
>>126988035Why do you know how that sounds? I'm straight and I don't.
>>126988042post a video of yourself playing the full freebird solo with thumb behind neck only using your pinky, I bet you won't faggot

>>126988066>this nobody agrees with mehes retarded and wrong too, that doesn't add leverage at fucking all lmao. You're probably one of those retards who doesn't know how to use a crowbar either. Learn how levers work retard.
I just play whatโs comfy and donโt care whatโs right or wrong
>>126988079>hes going to die alone on this retarded hillkeep bending like a retarded cripple
>>126988042>Thumb over neck is bad technique...for classical guitar.
For rock, blues, metal, country, jazz and most forms of pop, thumb-over-neck is the most common grip because it allows for the most expression. Being able to switch to thumb-behind for stretches and scale passages is absolutely necessary but you shouldn't be trying to play like that 100% of the time in most genres.
You're wrong, stop spreading wrongness. I don't care what your stepdad or favorite youtuber told you.
>>126988087tell the retard who watched a few 52 weeks guitar player shorts and thinks he's the authority on guitar technique
In certain situations, good technique can be sub optimal or even bad. "Bad" technique can be just what's needed. In certain situations. It's not a religion.
>>126988096it doesn't though, they just all learned improper technique, its fine, you like to play improperly.
When you finally want to grow up and play the instrument like it was designed you'll find your tone is better and you are able to play things that used to be impossible.
For rhythm guitar, sometimes my pick slides out between my fingers and protrudes too much, fucking up my strumming. Can't reposition it without stopping. How to avoid? I try holding pick tighter but that hampers fluid strumming.
>>126988108Dumbfuck I've been playing for 32 years.
You're wrong. Stick to classical guitar and pre-Charlie Christian jazz, it's the only genre that won't laugh you out of the room.
Fucking retard. Have fun sucking.
>>126988111Drill some speed holes in it
>>126988126>32 years of bad habitsDamn, too late for you bud. Sucks you never learned how to properly play.
>he doesnโt play with his thumb directly on the back of the neck and only use his index finger for all notes
>>126988139>Eddie Van Halen had bad technique>Steve Vai has bad technique>Al di Meola has bad technique>Paco de Lucia has bad technique>Armik has bad technique>Eric Johnson has bad technique>Eric Clapton has bad techniqueI'm tired of this list. I could go on forever. Look at any guitarist outside of classical on youtube. ANY. You will see the thumb behind most of the time.
I will trust my 32 years of "bad habits" (lol) and their collective several hundred years of being the best guitarists of all time over your dumbfuck ass on a mongolian basket weaving forum who can't play Smoke on The Water without power chords.
You are wrong. You have no idea what you're talking about. You are either a new musician regurgitating something an elder told him, or a bad musician so stubborn he's never learned how to actually be good at his instrument.
You should feel bad for spreading misinformation on this general, and should probably kill yourself in shame for arguing with your betters.
Good evening.

>>126985827 (OP)Asking again:
Is it worth to trade in for a katana 3 50 over a boss katana mini x?
I got the mini x and desu it's great minus only 3 or 4 effects being worth my time, I read the higher-end gen 3 katanas all have tone studio capability, so about 2k$+ worth of pedals you can program into the presents.
I'll eventually move on from a practice amp anyways, but #rhetschill the guitar #god said all you need to start is a blues junior and some elbow grease.
>>126988442From everything I've seen and the few CV guitars I've dicked around with they have surprisingly good QC right out of the box.
Main issue is the wiring, the pots, and maybe the pickups if you're picky- but throwing 500s or 1megs in should fix the pickup range.
>>126988544Do you need it to be that much louder? Do you really need those effects for practicing? Or do you want to try recording? I really regret selling my desktop practice amp. Especially now that they don't make them anymore.

>>126988334custom shop > american original/vintage > american ultra > american professional > american performer > player ii limited/modded > vintera and probably all their one off shit like blacktop > standard
i think. they have a ton of models. american ultras technically have better specs but the originals/vintage have nitro and other classic stuff
>>126988580Right now no, the 10w is more than enough, but I'm wondering about all the free shit and boss official pedals on the tone studio that can be programmed right into the gen 3 amps/footswitches
>>126988544Consider a used older gen. Bet you can pick up a 100 for cheap and still hang on to the mini for practice/convenience.
I guess I did pick the random 4pc combo but didn't expect them to send 4 different sizes, with one of the picks not even a sharp

>>126988937I don't like the how the bottom horn rests on the hamstring in my inner thigh (other guitars in the classical position don't have this problem), you have to sit in a very specific position or the guitar slides around and the V is so long in an annoying way it keeps banging on stuff, my wall still has a couple holes from the pointy bits
You gotta be out of your damn mind to find that pos comfortable

>>126988879Well, I was at ipbc (il perso coniglio blu), the Italian bistro I'm working at while getting a band together (I'm a waiter, but also play live gig acoustic shows every Wednesday night). I was helping someone at the cheesecake cooler when my insides lurched. Before I could react liquid sin burst forth onto the glass door. And I did howl in torment. Tele and Strat bridge should sound virtually identical because they typically have the same output and scale pickup position is all that matters to the tone and they're in identical positions relative to the bridge.

>>126989589Tele bridge is typically higher output, around 7k VS around 5.5k-6k for Strat. The second piece of the puzzle is the metal baseplate. They make Strat pickups with higher output and the Tele style baseplate, and they sound largely identical to a Tele bridge.
